This year, 110 public high schools in Ho Chi Minh City will enroll a total of about 70,000 students in grade 10.
The criteria are as follows:
The schools with the highest enrollment targets include: Marie Curie High School (District 3); Hung Vuong (District 5); Tay Thanh (Tan Phu District); Nguyen Trung Truc, Tran Hung Dao (Go Vap District), Hoang Hoa Tham (Binh Thanh District), Vo Thi Sau (Binh Thanh District), Truong Chinh (District 12), Nguyen Cong Tru (Go Vap District), Phu Nhuan (Phu Nhuan District).
In the specialized classes, Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted enrolls 805 students for 13 specialized subjects. Of which, the 10th grade classes specializing in Japanese, French, Chinese, History, Geography, and Information Technology enroll 35 students each (1 class), while other specialized classes enroll 70 or 105 students (2 or 3 classes).
Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted enrolls 525 students for specialized classes. Of which, Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted adds 35 students for the IT specialized class; Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted adds 70 students for 2 specialized classes: math and chemistry.
Schools enrolling integrated English 10th graders include: Tran Dai Nghia High School, Bui Thi Xuan, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, Nguyen Huu Huan, Mac Dinh Chi, Saigon Practical High School, Nguyen Thuong Hien, Phu Nhuan, Gia Dinh, Nguyen Huu Cau.
The 10th grade exam in Ho Chi Minh City takes place on June 6-7. Candidates take 3 subjects: Math - Literature - Foreign Language. The time for Math and Literature is 120 minutes, Foreign Language is 90 minutes. Those who register for specialized schools will take an additional specialized subject (150 minutes).
The 10th grade admission process is carried out in 2 phases. In phase 1, students register for 3 priority wishes 1, 2, 3 to take the entrance exam to grade 10 of high schools.
Phase 2 will depend on the actual application submission situation and the needs of high schools. The Department will decide on additional enrollment and issue written instructions to ensure the rights of candidates, on the basis of recruiting enough quotas for schools that are still lacking. Each student can register for 3 wishes, arranged in order of priority from high to low (wish 1, 2, 3). If they are admitted to a wish, they must study in that wish and cannot change their wish.
Students who register have 2 priority wishes to enter specialized classes. If they are not admitted or do not apply to specialized schools, students graduating from junior high school in the 2024-2025 school year in Ho Chi Minh City can still participate in the admission exam to grade 10 according to 3 wishes to enter public high schools.
Candidates are awarded priority and incentive points in accordance with the Admission Regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training. If they are eligible for multiple priority and incentive benefits at the same time, the maximum bonus points will not exceed 3.5 points and the additional points will only be applied to candidates with 3 wishes to enter public high schools.
