The number of tourists during the Lunar New Year At Ty increased strongly compared to the same period of Tet Giap Thin, in which some destinations such as Phu Quoc and Sa Pa achieved impressive growth.
During the Lunar New Year of At Ty 2025 (from January 25 to February 2, 2025), the tourism industry nationwide is expected to welcome and serve 12.5 million domestic visitors (an increase of about 19% over the same period in 2024), according to preliminary statistics from the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism. Foreign visitors also increased by an average of about 30% thanks to the effect of visa policies, restructuring of the tourist market and efforts of businesses and localities. The whole country has up to 8 provinces and cities with tourism revenue of more than 1,000 billion VND, a sharp increase compared to 3 provinces and cities last year.
Sa Pa continues to be a "hot spot"
As usual, Sa Pa continues to be a "magnet" attracting visitors during the Lunar New Year thanks to its attractive and spring-like experiences. This is also a destination that has made an important contribution to Lao Cai's revenue of VND 1,342 billion, of which total revenue from international visitors reached about VND 126 billion, total revenue from domestic visitors reached about VND 1,215 billion, an increase of 49% over the same period in 2024.
Sun World Fansipan Legend tourist area in Sa Pa is the most attractive destination in Lao Cai, with tens of thousands of visitors coming to visit and experience the nature and culture of the Northwest. In particular, during the first days of the holiday (26th - 28th of Tet), Fansipan peak appeared covered in white snow, making many tourists excited to take pictures, play snowballs, make snowmen... During the 5 days of Tet alone, this tourist area recorded a 10% increase in visitors compared to the same period last year. Tens of thousands of visitors came here to experience the flag-raising ceremony, immerse themselves in the Spring Festival opening the gate of heaven from January 31 to February 16, 2025, or participate in folk games, explore the unique culture and highland market at Ban May with the participation of 100 Northwest artisans.
In particular, from now until the end of January, every weekend visitors will experience a new festival. The weekend of February 8-9 is the Gau Tao Festival of the Mong people, while the two days of February 15-16 will be the Put Tong Festival of the Red Dao people.
Quang Ninh bustling at the beginning of the year
According to information from Ha Long International Passenger Port, during the 5 days of Lunar New Year (from January 29 to February 2, 2025), the unit welcomed 681 ships, carrying nearly 22,000 passengers to Ha Long, an increase of about 7% over the same period last year. The notable point this year is the Silver Dawn ship carrying nearly 500 European and American tourists to Ha Long to "break ground" in Ha Long on the first day of the new year.
In the city center, Sun World Ha Long tourist area welcomes tens of thousands of domestic and international visitors to experience attractive spring activities. In Cam Pha, many tourists choose Yoko Onsen Quang Hanh for healing tourism at the beginning of the year, hot mineral baths and enjoy Japanese cuisine.
Da Nang collects nearly 1,900 billion VND
According to estimates from the Da Nang Department of Tourism, during the Lunar New Year 2025, the total number of visitors to the city will reach more than 469,000, an increase of 16.7% compared to the 2024 holiday. Of which, international visitors are estimated to reach more than 228,000, an increase of 29% compared to the 2024 holiday, and domestic visitors are estimated to reach more than 241,000. Total tourism revenue is estimated at VND 1,887 billion, an increase of 19.4% compared to the 2024 Tet holiday.
A series of attractive Tet programs are held at tourist areas in the city, attracting both domestic and international tourists. Tourists are especially excited about the Tulip Festival with nearly 400,000 flowers of 45 rare and colorful varieties on Ba Na peak, participating in the traditional Vietnamese Tet cultural space at Tru Vu Tra Quan area. The Tulip Festival will last until the end of February 2025.
In the city center, the “entertainment mecca” Da Nang Downtown attracts tourists with the beautiful Mai Hoa Thung lion and dragon dance, the Vui Phet Tet market with rich cuisine and surprise gift promotions, the event “Vietnamese Costume and Cosplay Night on the evening of the 5th day of Tet”… According to representatives of these tourist areas, every Tet holiday attracts tens of thousands of domestic and international tourists to experience.
Phu Quoc welcomes record number of international visitors
The Lunar New Year 2025 has witnessed the largest influx of Western tourists ever in Phu Quoc. Not only Taiwanese, Korean, Chinese, Thai, Singaporean tourists, etc., the Pearl Island also welcomes a large number of tourists from Kazakhstan, Poland, etc. to celebrate the Lunar New Year.
According to the People's Committee of Phu Quoc City, during the Lunar New Year holiday from January 25, 2025 to February 2, 2025, the city welcomed 281,659 visitors, an increase of 47% over the same period. The highlight of this year's holiday is the high number of international visitors. Accordingly, on many days, Phu Quoc welcomed 38-39 international flights, the number of international visitors reached 74,833, an increase of 44%.
According to Mr. Dinh Gia Long, General Director of Paradise Land Phu Quoc, the resorts invested by Sun Group and the mini-hotel system in Hoang Hon Town all reached an occupancy rate of over 90% during the holiday. According to a representative of Sun World Hon Thom, the number of visitors using the Sun World Hon Thom cable car service and shows increased "unprecedentedly". Of which, the show "Kiss of the Sea" increased the most, up to 284% compared to the same period in 2024 and 373% compared to the same period in 2023.
Tay Ninh and the phenomenon of "spring festival"
Aerial photos of people camping at the foot of Ba Den Mountain to attend the Ba Den Mountain Spring Festival are making the strongest impression this Lunar New Year. This is also proof that Tay Ninh is one of the most attractive destinations for visitors this early spring.
During the first days of the new year, Ba Den Mountain in Tay Ninh attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors every day to make pilgrimages and join in the atmosphere of the Ba Mountain Spring Festival that lasts throughout January with many exciting activities. On the 4th day of Tet alone - the opening day of the Spring Festival, Ba Den Mountain welcomed 145,000 pilgrims to Ba Pagoda to worship Linh Son Thanh Mau and admire the statue of Buddha Tay Bo Da Son on the top of the mountain. The highlight of each Tet season is still the Ba Mountain Spring Festival with art programs and fireworks. In particular, art programs such as Chhay Dam drum dance, Khmer dance, pentatonic music... will be held throughout January, performed by Tay Ninh artisans.
The first days of the new year are also the Maitreya spring on the sacred Ba Den mountain. Lasting throughout January, this is a festival for people to send their wishes for a peaceful and joyful new year before the world's largest Maitreya Bodhisattva statue. In particular, this land promises to continue to attract a record number of visitors when on January 9, the Duc Chi Ton Festival will take place - one of the two largest and most important festivals in Cao Dai religion.
