Launching a survey to collect information on the socio-economic situation of 53 ethnic minorities in 2024

The 2024 Survey to collect information on the socio-economic situation of 53 ethnic minorities is the third to be organized nationwide, after two successful surveys in 2015 and 2019. The survey is very important, aiming to collect information on population, housing, marriage, health, education, living conditions...

This is the basis for compiling statistical indicators of the National Statistical Indicator System and the Statistical Indicator System on Ethnic Affairs to serve the development and planning of socio-economic development policies for ethnic minority areas in the period 2026 - 2030. The survey results will be the basis for updating the information system and statistical data on ethnic minorities in Vietnam.

The survey and information collection on the socio-economic situation of 53 ethnic minorities in 2024 in Lao Cai province was conducted in all districts, towns and cities of the province.

The whole province has 435 sampled areas in 143 communes, wards and towns. Muong Khuong district is the district-level locality with the largest number of sampled areas in the whole province (76 areas) and Muong Khuong town is the commune-level unit with the largest number of sampled areas in the whole province (14 areas).

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Phung Dac Hung, Director of Lao Cai Provincial Statistics Office emphasized: In order to successfully conduct the survey and collect information on the socio-economic situation of 53 ethnic minorities in 2024 in the province, the preparation work for the survey was carried out methodically, thoroughly and promptly by the Statistics Office. The whole province has recruited 790 people to participate in the survey force; professional training has been deployed and implemented to ensure requirements; propaganda work has been focused on and focused on so that ethnic minorities can exercise their rights and obligations in providing accurate, complete and timely information to statistical investigators.

Mr. Phung Dac Hung requested the Ethnic Committee, People's Committees of districts, towns and cities to closely coordinate with the Provincial Statistics Office in directing the successful organization of the survey in each locality and across the province according to the plan, ensuring quality and on time. At the same time, he requested the forces participating in the survey to strictly implement information confidentiality according to the Law on Statistics and current regulations, especially personal information of the survey subjects.

Immediately after the launching ceremony, investigators conducted investigations and collected information at households.

The investigation's information collection period begins today (July 1) and ends on August 15, 2024.
