National Assembly agrees on GDP growth target of over 7% in 2025

Kinhtedothi - The 15th National Assembly voted to pass the Resolution on the Socio-Economic Development Plan for 2025, in which it resolved to increase the gross domestic product (GDP) by about 6.5-7.0% and strive for about 7.0-7.5%.


On the afternoon of November 12, after listening to the National Assembly Standing Committee member and Chairman of the National Assembly's Economic Committee Vu Hong Thanh present the Report on explanation, acceptance and revision of the draft Resolution on the Socio-Economic Development Plan for 2025, the National Assembly voted to pass this Resolution.

The Resolution has determined the general goal of 2025 as a year of acceleration, breakthrough, and reaching the finish line; striving to achieve the highest results in the goals and targets of the 5-year Socio-Economic Development Plan 2021 - 2025; continuing to prioritize promoting growth on the basis of maintaining macroeconomic stability, controlling inflation, and ensuring major balances of the economy.

Focus more on supplementing and perfecting the removal of obstacles in the legal system; basically complete the handling of shortcomings, backlogs, and problems related to institutions and long-term implementation, best meeting the requirements of innovation and creativity, creating breakthroughs in national development in the new situation.

Speed ​​up progress, ensure quality, promptly complete strategic and important national infrastructure projects and works, and effectively exploit new development space.

At the same time, focus on building high-quality human resources, especially for priority and emerging industries and fields; strongly promote science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, green economy, digital economy, circular economy associated with ensuring security and safety to promote development.

The resolution sets out the following main targets: gross domestic product (GDP) growth rate of about 6.5-7.0% and strives for about 7.0-7.5%; GDP per capita of about 4,900 USD; the proportion of processing and manufacturing industry in GDP of about 24.1%; average consumer price index (CPI) growth rate of about 4.5%; the rate of trained workers of about 70%, of which those with degrees and certificates of about 29-29.5%; the rate of health insurance participation of 95.15%; the rate of communes meeting new rural standards of about 80.5-81.5%...

Regarding the main tasks and solutions, the National Assembly basically approved the tasks and solutions submitted by the Government, the Supreme People's Court, the Supreme People's Procuracy, the State Audit and the National Assembly agencies, and at the same time requested the Government and relevant agencies to well implement the proposed main tasks and solutions.

Specifically, there are strong and drastic solutions to remove institutions and overcome bottlenecks; further promote the review, supplementation and improvement of institutions, laws, mechanisms and policies associated with improving the effectiveness and efficiency of law enforcement;

Focus on cutting and simplifying administrative procedures and business regulations, creating convenience and reducing costs for people and businesses. Prioritize promoting economic growth, supporting production and business while maintaining macroeconomic stability, controlling inflation, and ensuring major balances of the economy.

Focus on developing high-quality human resources associated with promoting scientific research, developing and applying technology, promoting innovation, start-up and creative movements. Implementing social progress and equity, improving people's material and spiritual life and health; investing in developing cultural industries...

The Resolution assigns the Government, local authorities at all levels, the Supreme People's Court, the Supreme People's Procuracy, and the State Audit Office, according to their assigned functions and tasks, to successfully implement this Resolution.

The National Assembly Standing Committee, the Nationalities Council, the National Assembly Committees, the National Assembly delegations and National Assembly deputies, within the scope of their functions, tasks and powers, shall supervise the implementation of this Resolution.

The Vietnam Fatherland Front and its member organizations shall supervise and mobilize all classes of people to implement this Resolution.
