Quang Yen Town has effectively carried out the task of building the militia force, especially implementing the Project on organizing the force building, training, operation and ensuring the regime and policies for the militia force in the period of 2021-2025 of the town according to Resolution No. 01/NQ-HDND dated August 27, 2021 of the Provincial People's Council. Lieutenant Colonel Ngo Doan Luong, Political Commissar of the Town Military Command, said: Implementing the Project, the Committee focused on building a mobile on-site force and a widespread force, ensuring a scale of organization and staffing suitable to the administrative organization in each residential area and types of production and business organizations. Up to now, the town's militia force has a staff of 2,041 comrades, reaching a rate of 1.3% compared to the population; a total of 27 militia units, including 19 militia units and 8 self-defense units. Specifically: Mobile militia, air defense militia built at platoon level; local militia built at platoon, squad, and team level; artillery militia built at company, platoon, and battery level...

To build a high-quality militia force, the selection work is carried out strictly and seriously, ensuring good qualities, ethics, culture, health, and political reliability. From 2021 to present, the town has spent over 50 billion VND to ensure policies and regimes for the militia. This force is equipped and provided with all kinds of uniforms, weapons, and many types of support tools, such as: anti-impact helmets, shields, rubber batons, flashlights. The town's Military Command is continuing to coordinate with agencies, departments, branches, communes and wards to gradually complete legal procedures, build training grounds for the militia force; build new and repair the headquarters of the commune-level Military Command.

Every year, 100% of the militia and self-defense forces are trained with the motto "basic, practical, quality"; focusing on synchronous and in-depth training, regularly innovating training methods close to the reality of the locality and unit. Special attention is paid to training to improve awareness, political capacity; technical and tactical actions, meeting the requirements of tasks in the new situation. Annual training is assessed by superiors as quite good; in 2021, it reached 89.9%, in 2022, it reached 88.8%, in 2023, it reached 94.5%, and in 2024, it currently reaches 52.9%.

Along with that, the town focuses on organizing town-level competitions and sports events and organizing training and participating in provincial-level competitions and sports events, achieving high results: Third prize for the entire delegation in the Provincial Mobile Militia Platoon Sports Festival in 2022; First prize for the entire delegation in the Provincial 12.7mm Anti-Aircraft Machine Gun Platoon Live-Fire Competition in 2023; Third prize for the entire delegation in the 2024 Military Shooting Competition of the Standing Force and Militia and Self-Defense Forces.

The militia and self-defense forces established in communes and wards proactively coordinate with other forces in the area to enforce the State's laws; participate in mobilizing the masses; participate in disease prevention, overcoming natural disasters, and search and rescue. Thereby contributing to building an increasingly strong national defense posture associated with a people's security posture, meeting the requirements of the task of building and protecting the Fatherland in the new situation.
