"Depending on the development of the war, the defense could last for 1-2 weeks based on the current level of weapons reserves," Mr. Lukowski said.
The official admitted that the Polish army still uses old equipment and weapons alongside modern ones. However, the weapons shortage only affects old systems while new systems are fully supplied.
Mr Lukowski said Poland had supplied a lot of weapons to Ukraine but stressed that this was carefully calculated while new weapons were being added.
Earlier, opposition political groups in Poland criticized the state of defense production in the country, saying that Warsaw only had enough ammunition to fight for five days. When asked about this, Mr. Lukowski said that the time depends on the type of weapon and ammunition.
