According to a recent updated forecast from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the conflict in Ukraine could end in the final months of 2025.
“Although risks remain unusually high, fighting should end in the final months of this year,” IMF analysts predicted.
The document, published on the IMF website, said three years of conflict had caused heavy social, humanitarian and economic losses for Ukraine.
Efforts to end the conflict and changes in foreign aid to Ukraine have led to changes in forecasts, the report said.
At the same time, the report also points out that making progress in resolving the conflict could contribute to improving the economic situation in Ukraine.
Previously, in the sixth assessment of the loan to Ukraine published in December last year, the IMF predicted two scenarios related to the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
The baseline scenario assumes the conflict will end by the end of 2025, while the worse scenario predicts the conflict will continue until mid-2026, significantly affecting economic stability.
The Russia-Ukraine conflict is about to enter its fourth year and is expected to end soon with the mediation of US President Donald Trump.
Following phone calls between the leaders of the United States, Russia and Ukraine, as well as talks in Saudi Arabia, Moscow and Kiev agreed to jointly halt attacks on energy facilities and cease fighting in the Black Sea.
However, both sides still accuse each other of violating the agreement without completely ending the attacks.
