On March 30, at Ho Thi Ky High School (Ca Mau City), the Department of Education and Training of Ca Mau organized the opening ceremony of the provincial-level excellent secondary school student exam for the 2024-2025 school year. The exam gathered 701 candidates from secondary schools in the province.
This is the first year the exam is organized according to the 2018 General Education Program with many innovations in content and methods of assessing students' abilities. Candidates compete in 7 subjects, including: mathematics (88 candidates), natural sciences - including physics, chemistry, biology (117 candidates), information technology (45 candidates), literature (116 candidates), history and geography (141 candidates), English (84 candidates). Notably, this year, for the first time, civic education is included in the excellent student exam with 110 candidates registering for the exam.
The exam not only assesses the candidates’ professional knowledge but also requires their thinking, creativity and problem-solving abilities. This is an opportunity to discover and nurture talented students, while helping teachers, schools and parents have an objective view of the current quality of education. The results of the excellent student exam will be an important basis for selecting teams to participate in higher-level excellent student exams, contributing to improving the quality of education in Ca Mau province.
