In a statement, the Israeli military said: "Following a siren sounding a short time ago in several areas of Israel, a missile launched from Yemen was intercepted by the IAF (air force) before entering Israeli territory."
Yemen's Iran-backed Houthi forces have regularly fired rockets at Israel since the Gaza conflict erupted on October 7, 2023, after Hamas militants launched attacks on Israel.
In a related development, on the same day, the spokesman for the Houthi armed forces in Yemen, Yahya Saree, announced that this force had attacked the aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman three times in the past 24 hours.
"In the past 24 hours, our armed forces have engaged three times with a group of warships led by the US aircraft carrier Harry Truman in the Red Sea. The counterattack involved missile forces, drones and the navy," a Houthi spokesman said in a live broadcast on Al-Masirah TV.
Previously, on March 15, US President Donald Trump announced the start of a military campaign against the Houthi rebels who control about one-third of Yemen's territory.
