Royal Poinciana strives to reduce poverty

Associations, unions and people of Royal Poinciana plant trees, creating a green - clean - beautiful environment.

For ineffective rice growing areas, farmers have converted to aquaculture or linked to commodity production according to the value chain. From 2021 to now, the commune has converted and directed people to grow over 15 hectares of AP1 green hemp invested by An Phuoc Group, and successfully implemented a model of 1.3 hectares of medicinal plants of women's union members in Mo Se area, bringing economic value many times higher than growing rice and corn. On average, each year, the commune plants 40 hectares of new forests, maintaining an annual crop area of over 692 hectares, of which the rice area is over 331 hectares, 70% of which are high-yield hybrid rice varieties.

From mainly small-scale production, in recent years, the commune has focused on production towards goods associated with processing and consumption of products; encouraging replication and development of production models that take advantage of local land and human resources such as: Raising buffaloes, cows, pigs, free-range chickens, bees for honey, snail farming... on a medium and large scale, bringing high value. Phuoc Duyen sour sausage products of the commune are recognized as 3-star OCOP products and are focusing on developing and expanding the consumption market.

Promoting the advantages brought by inter-district and inter-regional traffic routes that are being invested in, renovated, upgraded or newly built through the area, the commune focuses on developing small-scale industry, services and trade; encouraging and creating favorable conditions for organizations, individuals and households to invest in industries such as: Mechanics, carpentry, wood peeling, garment... Currently, along with 3 garment companies located in the area, Phuong Vy has developed dozens of family garment establishments... creating jobs for nearly 500 workers with stable income from 8 to 12 million VND/person/month.

Integrating capital sources from the National Target Program on New Rural Construction, the Sustainable Poverty Reduction Program... and the support of the People, from 2020 to now, the commune has invested nearly 30 billion VND to build more classrooms and auxiliary works for the schools: Kindergarten, Phuong Vy 1 Primary School, Phuong Vy 2 and Phuong Vy Secondary School, meeting the needs of innovation in educational programs, teaching and learning needs in schools.

Identifying "traffic goes first to pave the way", as a premise for local socio-economic development, along with doing a good job of propaganda and mobilization for site clearance, renovation, upgrading and implementation of inter-commune and inter-district roads passing through the area, from 2020 up to now, the commune has prioritized resources, allocating more than 40 billion VND to concretize key inter-regional and inter-hamlet traffic routes, contributing to bringing the rate of solidified roads in the area to 84.1%.

Most recently, the Phuong Vy bridge across the Gianh stream has been newly invested in, not only helping to break the "oasis" situation but also opening up more space and conditions for trade, economic development, and improving income and living standards for people in residential areas on the right side of the Gianh stream.

Along with investment in infrastructure development, production development support, vocational training, connection, and job creation for people have received special attention. In the past 3 years, the Commune People's Committee and associations have coordinated to open 5 vocational training classes for 175 rural workers, 9 training classes for hundreds of workers in many fields. This has contributed to creating nearly 600 new jobs for workers in the commune, of which 31 workers went to work abroad.

On average, poor households decrease by 1.8% each year, near-poor households decrease by 0.65%. By mid-2024, the multidimensional poverty rate will be 11%, near-poor households will be 4.5%. People's income will increase, reaching 43 million VND/person/year by the end of 2023, approaching the income target in new rural construction.

Currently, Phuong Vy is urgently re-evaluating all indicators and criteria; preparing documents to prove the 16 achieved criteria and urgently completing the remaining 3 criteria, striving to complete 19/19 criteria by the end of 2024.
