At noon on April 12, the yard of Tran Van On Secondary School (District 1, Ho Chi Minh City) was still crowded with parents and students waiting for private advice from experts on how to choose their wishes, how to review, and things to note in the 10th grade entrance exam in 2025.

Parents must understand and grasp the information clearly.

Ms. Mai Tran Thi Bich Loan (Tan Phu District) said that her son is a 9th grade student at Tran Van On Secondary School. Ms. Loan is very proud because over the past 9 years, her son has had very good academic performance, is good at English and is studying in an integrated class. However, because this is the first year that the 10th grade exam is organized according to the 2018 general education program, she still has many worries.

"I have participated in many admissions consulting programs before, and consulted a lot on social networks and information portals. However, I still have many questions. When parents do not understand, it will certainly be difficult to advise their children," said Ms. Loan.

The program attracted more than 1,000 students, parents and teachers from secondary schools in the area to participate on the morning of April 12.

After the program, Ms. Loan asked Ms. Nguyen Xuan Mai, Deputy Head of Testing and Quality Control Department - Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, to answer questions.

Thanks to Ms. Nguyen Xuan Mai, Deputy Head of the Examination and Quality Control Department - Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, for advice, Ms. Loan said she has solved many important problems and can confidently accompany her child in the upcoming exam.

Ms. Loan also realized that students are under a lot of pressure to study. They themselves are also trying to prove their achievements to their families.

"In addition to choosing a school with good training quality, I also consider the geographical distance and my child's learning ability. If I set my expectations too high, it will make my child more stressed," Ms. Loan worried.

Sitting at the end of the school yard, although he did not ask any questions to the advisory board, Mr. Le Hong Van (District 1) always paid close attention, occasionally taking notes of necessary information.

Mr. Van has a nephew studying at Duc Tri Secondary School. His parents live far away so his uncle came to consult on behalf of the family.

"This is the first time my nephew and I have participated in counseling. My nephew is very gentle and doesn't know how to ride an electric bike yet, so when he goes to high school, my family is very worried. My wish is to prioritize a public high school near my house for convenience in picking him up and dropping him off. However, my family still respects my nephew's decision," said Mr. Van.

Be careful when looking up information on social networks.

At the program, experts reminded parents and students to be vigilant, selective in information on social networks, and only update information on official channels.

Ms. Nguyen Xuan Mai, Deputy Head of the Examination and Quality Control Department - Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, emphasized that the closest, most reputable and fastest updated information channel today is teachers at school, especially homeroom teachers.

"Throughout the school year, teachers will know the strengths and weaknesses of students, from academic performance to personality. In addition to updating accurate exam information, teachers also have the most objective and best advice for students," Ms. Mai commented.

This year, 114 public high schools in Ho Chi Minh City plan to enroll more than 70,000 students in grade 10, more than 30,000 students in non-public schools and more than 10,000 students in vocational education and continuing education centers...

According to Ms. Tran Thi Hong Thuy, Principal of Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School, there are many posts on forums that cause confusion for students, especially after the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training announced the enrollment quota for grade 10 on April 11.

Ms. Thuy believes that this will make students feel confused, worried, and even constantly change the order of their wishes. This is completely inappropriate at this time.

Parents and students can refer to the quality of teaching of the school through the official websites or fanpages of the schools. In addition to admission consultants, parents can contact the homeroom teacher or the school board to have the most appropriate and accurate choice.
