Districts in Ho Chi Minh City will have regulations on the time for cross-border enrollment after completing on-line enrollment.
The 2023-2024 school year is the first year that 100% of schools in Ho Chi Minh City will conduct online primary school enrollment according to the common system of the Department of Education and Training. Therefore, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City has clear regulations on enrollment time for each stage, including noting the time frame for registering for out-of-area enrollment for grades 1 and 6, if parents have a need.
According to the regulations on online primary school enrollment of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, from now until June 23, using their children's identification code, parents can access the system https://tuyensinhdaucap.hcm.edu.vn to register for enrollment at schools in their area of residence. In particular, when choosing a locality (district, county, Thu Duc City), parents need to choose one of three criteria in the system: According to permanent address; according to temporary residence (current residence); according to the school they are studying at.
Based on the data declared by parents, the local primary school admissions steering committee will arrange suitable places for students. During the zoning process, in addition to the three localities of Thu Duc City, District 8, and Tan Binh, which are piloting the application of the education sector's GIS digital map for zoning (i.e. students will be zoned to study at the school closest to their home, which may not be based on administrative boundaries), other localities can use it for reference.
After completing the zoning, the Department of Education and Training of Thu Duc City and districts will update all results to the primary enrollment system of the education sector.
Also according to the schedule for implementing the first-level enrollment, from July 20 to August 1, after localities announce the first-level enrollment results, if they agree with the enrollment results, parents need to confirm enrollment right on the system, then submit paper applications directly to the school they have been admitted to.
Those who fail to pass the entrance exam or refuse to enroll with the admission results will register for the second round of admission after August 1 according to the district's primary admission plan. The time specified for this cross-district admission round will be based on the admission plan of Thu Duc City and each district.
However, the leaders of the Department of Education and Training also instructed that in cases where parents do not agree with the results of the first and sixth grade admissions of the district and county admissions steering committee, refuse to enroll in the assigned school and continue to register for admission to other schools in the same locality or in other localities, they must be very careful that the students will no longer be on the list of allocated places at the school. And the school may remove their names from the list for the second round of additional admissions.
