Cross the forest to survey

On February 13, Mr. Nguyen Duc Tuy, Deputy Secretary of Kon Tum Provincial Party Committee, and his delegation directly surveyed tourist attractions in Tu Mo Rong district and worked with the locality on solutions to improve tourism and help people escape poverty. In addition, Tu Tho Community Tourism Village is being built as a tourist village with many cherry blossoms and Bulgarian roses.

During this working trip, the Deputy Secretary of Kon Tum Provincial Party Committee and the delegation directly walked on a 4km long forest trail connecting Tea Prong waterfall (Tan Ba village, Te Xang commune) to the strawberry garden of the Forest Stay Medicinal Herbs and Tourism Cooperative (Dak Chum 1 village, Tu Mo Rong commune). This is a tourism product of exploring the walking route through the forest and waterfall that the Tu Mo Rong District People's Committee is surveying to put into service for visitors in the near future.

This space will bring visitors a sense of relaxation, memorable moments with loved ones while exploring the natural beauty, breathing the fresh air of the mountains and forests and hand-picking precious medicinal herbs and fruits to take care of their health.

The delegation also visited and listened to the story of the people of Tu Tho Resettlement Village (Te Xang Commune) busy welcoming tourists after 1 month of being recognized by the province as a Community Tourism Village.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Tuy, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, said he was very happy to see the Xo Dang people have a more stable life than before; at the same time, he directed Tu Mo Rong district to have more investment activities in the village to help people have more conditions to welcome guests, increase income, and escape poverty.

Informing the delegation, Mr. Vo Trung Manh said that currently, to help the village have more products to attract visitors, in addition to planting Bulgarian roses, the district is organizing the planting of more than 1,500 cherry blossom trees in the village, hoping to turn this place into a tourist village with the largest number of cherry blossoms and Bulgarian roses in the Central Highlands.

Every flower season, Tu Tho will be covered in pink and the sweet scent of roses and cherry blossoms. And the locals will have an additional source of income from selling roses to make perfume and cosmetics in addition to serving tourism.

On this occasion, the delegation of Kon Tum Provincial Party Committee directly planted ancient cherry blossom trees in the project of planting 1,500 cherry blossom trees in the village, to "support" Tu Tho Community Tourism Village in building a landscape for tourism development.

Building inter-regional tourism links

After the survey, on the same day, the working group directly worked with Tu Mo Rong district on solutions to enhance local tourism.

Mr. Vo Trung Manh said that the district has identified tourism as one of the development directions to help the Xo Dang people escape poverty. In recent years, the district has implemented many activities to develop tourism such as investing in tourism infrastructure; training high-quality human resources; building typical tourism products associated with local strengths; cooperating with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Department of Tourism to promote tourism potential...

Thanks to that, more than 4 years ago, from a tourism area that was only potential and unknown to tourists, Tu Mo Rong tourism has now developed. In particular, unique and novel tourism products have been formed, loved by tourists such as picnic tours, waterfall tours, and viewing the world's largest Ngoc Linh ginseng national park. In the district, attractive tourist and sightseeing spots have been formed in the communes of Dak Na, Te Xang, Mang Ry, and Tu Mo Rong. Through tourism, the culture of the Xo Dang people is preserved, the Xo Dang people have more income, and many households have escaped poverty.

Ms. Bach Thi Man, Deputy Director of Kon Tum Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said that Tu Mo Rong district has tourism potential and recently, the district's tourism brand has been known by many tourists, chosen as a place to relax, visit and experience.

Like the recent Lunar New Year, in addition to Mang Den, other localities also attracted many visitors, including Tu Mo Rong. This is the local effort in promoting tourism development associated with cultural preservation, increasing income for the Xo Dang people.

According to Ms. Bach Thi Man, this year, the province aims to welcome 3 million visitors. The province's tourism industry is also building an image as a safe, friendly and hospitable destination. Therefore, in the coming time, to achieve the above goal and help people escape poverty through tourism, Tu Mo Rong district needs to make efforts to build unique tourism products to attract visitors. The department will focus on supporting the district in promoting tourism potential; supporting training, fostering and coaching human resources for tourism; connecting travel agencies to the area to exploit tourism tours.

After the survey trip, Mr. Nguyen Duc Tuy, Deputy Secretary of Kon Tum Provincial Party Committee, commented: It can be affirmed that Tu Mo Rong possesses great potential for tourism development. The district tourism industry has built many unique tourism products, especially the Ngoc Linh ginseng garden tourism model; experiential tourism; picnic tourism; and relic sightseeing. Tourism activities have helped the Xo Dang people earn income from selling precious medicinal herbs; the unique culture of the Xo Dang people is widely preserved.

However, Mr. Nguyen Duc Tuy also assessed that despite the changes, Tu Mo Rong tourism has not yet developed commensurate with the potential that the land possesses.

These are: few tourist attractions; degraded transport and tourism infrastructure, making it difficult to attract tourism investment; lack of accommodation; and no close tourism links with Mang Den and neighboring areas to form a cross-regional tourism chain. This is the “bottleneck” that the district needs to focus on removing to help tourism develop.

The Deputy Secretary of Kon Tum Provincial Party Committee also oriented solutions for the locality to implement to enhance the tourism industry of Tu Mo Rong in the coming time. That is to strengthen communication of tourism potential, thereby calling for strategic investors with potential and enthusiasm to invest in tourism in the area.

Phó Bí thư Tỉnh ủy Kon Tum Nguyễn Đức Tuy cùng đoàn công tác đã trực tiếp khảo sát các điểm du lịch trên địa bàn huyện Tu Mơ Rông.

Deputy Secretary of Kon Tum Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Duc Tuy and the working delegation directly surveyed tourist attractions in Tu Mo Rong district.

In addition, the district needs to continue to develop other unique types of tourism besides the ones that have been exploited, in order to create diversity, helping tourists have more choices when coming to the area. In particular, it is possible to develop more tourism products "my ginseng tree", so that people with ginseng can both promote local specialties, attract visitors, and increase income.

In addition, the district needs to build and expand a professional tourism service team so that visitors are served attentively, contributing to strengthening the brand as a safe, friendly and hospitable destination. In particular, it is necessary to build an inter-regional tourism chain with Mang Den and neighboring areas, in order to take advantage of the tourism advantages of each region, thereby promoting tourism development together.

He also emphasized that tourism development must be associated with the protection of the natural environment, forest environment and the preservation and promotion of the cultural values of the indigenous Xo Dang ethnic group. Therefore, the district needs to focus on protecting and developing forests; building linkage chains for people to participate in tourism activities, helping people to truly benefit from tourism.
