(PLVN) - Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long has just signed a Decision approving the Project "Developing and forming a medicinal plant industry center in Quang Nam province with Ngoc Linh ginseng as the main crop". The project aims to turn Quang Nam into a national medicinal plant center, promoting the potential of Ngoc Linh ginseng and rare medicinal plants...
The objective of the Project is to synchronously develop medicinal material areas and processing, production, business, scientific research systems, etc. to gradually turn Quang Nam province into the center of the medicinal material industry of the whole country; promote the potential of the national product Ngoc Linh Ginseng and medicinal materials with strengths in the area, contributing to turning Vietnam's medicinal material industry into a commodity production industry with high economic value.
In the period from 2025-2035, the Project aims to maintain and develop the area of medicinal material areas, prioritizing the development of Ngoc Linh Ginseng and medicinal materials of economic value. These medicinal materials will be selected based on their suitability to the ecology of each locality and market consumption needs. Quang Nam will continue to develop a production chain including breeding, cultivation, processing, production, and consumption of medicinal products, while complying with the principles and standards of the World Health Organization (WHO) on Good Agricultural and Collection Practices for Medicinal Plants (GACP-WHO).
Before 2030, the Project focuses on completing land use planning, related planning and determining the site to gradually invest in building infrastructure for the central area of the medicinal plant industry in industrial parks in Quang Nam province, focusing on Chu Lai Open Economic Zone. Quang Nam will also upgrade and complete infrastructure and regional traffic connections, creating favorable conditions for development and attracting investment in the medicinal plant industry.
From 2036 to 2045, the Project aims to complete a synchronous and modern infrastructure system to meet the development requirements of the local pharmaceutical industry. Medicinal products will be diversified, especially products from Ngoc Linh Ginseng, ensuring high quality to meet domestic consumption and export requirements. These products will participate in the global pharmaceutical industry value chain, with many products of high economic value.
The project proposes to synchronously deploy a system of tasks and solutions, including building institutions, supporting policies, completing related planning, promoting investment attraction, building and developing medicinal plant cultivation activities, scientific research, technology transfer, advertising and trade promotion. Enterprises, investors, organizations and individuals involved will enjoy incentive, preferential and support policies according to current laws. At the same time, policy mechanisms will be reviewed and adjusted to suit the characteristics and development requirements of the medicinal plant industry in Quang Nam, especially in developing the national product Ngoc Linh Ginseng.
An important part of the Project is to build a chain linking the cultivation, preliminary processing and processing of medicinal herbs in Quang Nam province. To develop medicinal herb growing areas, the province will focus on cultivating Ngoc Linh ginseng and other medicinal herbs with advantages in Quang Nam and neighboring provinces such as Kon Tum. The province will also ensure the application of advanced quality management processes in the cultivation of Ngoc Linh ginseng and other medicinal herbs with strengths such as Morinda officinalis, Codonopsis pilosula and Amomum longifolia.
