Advantages of industrial development
With a 192 km long coastline and favorable natural conditions, tourism economic development has long been identified as a key economic sector of Binh Thuan. However, this locality also possesses many internal advantages suitable for turning industry into an economic spearhead alongside local tourism development.
According to statistics in 2022, the economic proportion of industry accounts for 33.5% of the economic structure of GRDP of Binh Thuan.
Long Thanh Airport is the largest airport in Vietnam in the future.
Located at the gateway connecting economic and social exchanges between the South Central Coast region and the provinces in the southern key economic region, Binh Thuan possesses a synchronous traffic infrastructure.
The Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet and Phan Thiet - Dau Giay expressways have been put into operation and are considered the main traffic routes of the southern region, helping Binh Thuan conveniently connect with Ho Chi Minh City and Phan Thiet, thereby connecting to Tan Son Nhat airport, and in the future, Long Thanh airport and Phan Thiet airport. In particular, Long Thanh airport is in the top 16 most anticipated airport projects in the world, having a particularly important significance in socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security.
Regarding the labor force, Binh Thuan has an abundant labor force of more than 670,000 people. Of which, 659,729 people aged 15 and over are working in the economy. This labor force has an important influence on the investment decisions of enterprises. Because, an abundant, skilled labor force will shorten the training time and improve work efficiency.
Binh Thuan's favorable conditions allow the locality to easily attract investment from many large enterprises. Up to now, Binh Thuan province has 9 industrial parks (IPs) with a total area of over 3,000 hectares. Of which, 6 IPs have invested in building infrastructure, ensuring suitability for enterprises to invest; the remaining 3 IPs are in the investment preparation stage.
Currently, this locality is witnessing the presence of many large enterprises such as: Becamex-Vsip, Sonadezi, IPICO, AES Group, PV Gas, Power PLC (UK); Sojitz (Japan)...
According to information from the Binh Thuan Industrial Park Management Board, in the first 6 months of the year, Binh Thuan Industrial Parks attracted 2 new investment projects with a total registered investment capital of 995 billion VND and 3.6 million USD. This will also be a prestigious "attraction" to attract more industrial investment in Binh Thuan, realizing the goal of strong industrial development, similar to Binh Duong and Dong Nai before.
"Bright Spot" Duc Linh
In the overall "picture" of Binh Thuan, Duc Linh district is oriented to become the focal point in the development of industrial parks in the province. According to statistics in 2022, Duc Linh owns 300 hectares of industrial parks and industrial clusters (ICs). Among them are large ICs such as Nam Ha 1, 2 (70.4 hectares and 74 hectares); Dong Ha (38.4 hectares)... It is expected that by 2030, Duc Linh district will plan and establish 9 ICs with an area of nearly 500 hectares, striving to increase to 12 ICs with an area of 706.5 hectares by 2050, expecting to become the industrial capital of the South Central region in general and Binh Thuan province in particular.
The reason Duc Linh is considered the focus of industrial development is because it takes advantage of many strengths in natural conditions and infrastructure. This district is located in the center, adjacent to many industrial parks and industrial clusters. The north borders Vo Xu and Tanh Linh industrial parks; the west borders Long Khanh and Xuan Loc industrial parks; the south borders La Gi (Becamex industrial park). This is an area with abundant and qualified human resources. The terrain is far from the sea, the large flat land area, and the surrounding mountains, allowing factories and enterprises to operate with limited wear and tear on facilities and depreciation of machinery and equipment.
In terms of traffic infrastructure, Duc Linh has a diverse traffic system including a system of many highways, quickly connecting to airports and large seaports (1 hour to Long Thanh airport, 2 hours to Cai Mep Thi Vai and Phu My ports).
Ong Don Expressway Interchange connects Duc Linh with Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway
Phu My port is a deep-water port that welcomes super-heavy ships, directly transporting goods to European and American countries without going through international transit stations. Cai Mep - Thi Vai port is planned to become a "super port" in the southern key economic region.
Dona Standard factory in Duc Linh is about to be put into operation.
Duc Linh has the advantage of a large land fund and is considered a "magnet" attracting many investors to set up factories. For example, Nam Ha Industrial Park has signed a lease contract with Dona Standard Company - a member company of Phong Thai Group, specializing in manufacturing and processing Nike shoes in Asia with a total investment of 140 million USD.
Phase 1 of Nam Ha Industrial Park will be put into operation in October, creating jobs for about 10,000 workers. This will increase the prestige and competitiveness of Duc Linh, helping the locality continue to attract investment, exploit its strengths to develop industry, and become a "bright spot" in the economic "picture" of Binh Thuan.
