Cambodia's defense ministry said a search flight discovered the wreckage of a Chinese-made Z-9 helicopter in the densely forested Cardamom Mountains in southwestern Pursat province.

The ministry said military rescue forces had been dispatched to the scene of the accident, but access would be difficult due to dense forest terrain and bad weather.
The state news agency AKP quoted an unnamed senior defense official as saying the body of one of the pilots had been found and rescue teams would search for the other.
Earlier on July 12, the helicopter carrying two pilots was on a training flight and flying in bad weather conditions when it lost contact with the air force command. An intensive search for the missing helicopter was conducted a day after the incident.
A photo widely shared on social media on July 29 shows a helicopter broken into pieces, partially obscured by tree canopy. The photo and its source could not immediately be verified.
In 2014, another Chinese-made Z-9 helicopter crashed into a pond south of Cambodia's capital Phnom Penh, killing two generals commanding the air force's helicopter unit along with two pilots.
