Hanoi striker Pham Tuan Hai had to go to the hospital for a check-up immediately after Nguyen Tang Tien kicked his right ankle, in the match where Hanoi FC defeated Quang Nam 3-1 in round 13 of the V-League.
In the fourth minute of the second half of the match at Hang Day Stadium, Tuan Hai was kicked in the right ankle by Quang Nam defender Tang Tien. The home team striker held his leg and appeared to be in a lot of pain. Coach Daiki Iwamasa and members of Hanoi FC reacted violently outside the field. On the field, Nguyen Thanh Chung and Do Duy Manh got angry with Tang Tien, forcing other players to intervene.

Tuan Hai received medical attention for a while, then was carried off the field on a stretcher. As soon as the match ended, he got into an ambulance with his right ankle wrapped in ice, and went straight to Xanh Pon hospital, near Hang Day stadium.
Referee Nguyen Dinh Thai initially gave Tang Tien a yellow card. But after consulting VAR and reviewing the video, he overturned the yellow card and sent the Quang Nam midfielder off with a red card.

This is the second time Tang Tien has committed a dangerous foul on a Hanoi FC player. In the 2018 V-League, Tang Tien, playing for HAGL, also dangerously kicked Duy Manh in the knee and received a direct red card. After that, the Disciplinary Board of the Vietnam Football Federation increased the penalty to a five-match ban, while HAGL internally imposed a ban for the entire first leg.
Tang Tien was born in 1994, grew up in Dak Lak football before joining HAGL in 2016. At the end of the 2019 season, he moved to Ho Chi Minh City Club to play until the end of the 2023 season, then joined Quang Nam from the beginning of the 2023-2024 season.

Tuan Hai’s injury added to the worries of coach Philippe Troussier, who was present at Hang Day Stadium on the evening of March 8 to watch the match. The Vietnamese team is looking forward to two important matches against Indonesia in the second qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup – Asia, on March 21 and March 26.
Before Tuan Hai, Doan Van Hau could not participate because he had not recovered from his heel injury. Que Ngoc Hai and Nguyen Tuan Anh also had their chances of playing uncertainly, because they had not yet reached their best physical condition.
Before Tuan Hai got injured, Quang Nam's match in round 13 today went smoothly against Hanoi FC. The home team opened the score in the 10th minute after Joel Tagueu headed the ball from Pham Xuan Manh's right-wing cross. In the 28th minute, Xuan Manh broke through from the right wing, then shot with his left foot into the bottom left corner of the goal, doubling the gap. Five minutes later, Tuan Hai raised the score to 3-0 with a volley in the penalty area. This is the striker's ninth goal in the 2023-2024 season.
In the second half, Hoang Vu Samson shortened the score to 1-3 for Quang Nam, but the efforts in the remaining time of the second half were not enough to help the away team reverse the situation.
The victory helped Hanoi FC rise to sixth place in the V-League with 19 points, narrowing the gap with leader Nam Dinh - who drew 1-1 with Thanh Hoa - to 10 points. Meanwhile, Quang Nam ranked eighth with 15 points.
