The latest polls show that Mr. Trump leads President Biden in seven battleground states that could decide the 2024 election.
Former US President Donald Trump leads President Joe Biden by 4 percentage points in the states of Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, according to a poll conducted by Bloomberg and US online survey company Morning Consult and released on October 19.
State by state, Mr. Trump leads Mr. Biden by 5 points in Georgia, 4 points in Arizona, 4 points in North Carolina, 2 points in Wisconsin and 1 point in Pennsylvania. Mr. Biden leads Mr. Trump by 3 points in Nevada and the two candidates are competing in Michigan.
In seven battleground states, 49% of voters said Bidenomics, the term the White House uses to describe Mr. Biden’s economic agenda, was bad for the economy. Twenty-six% said the policy was good.
Among undecided voters in those seven states, 46% said Bidenomics would hurt the economy, and 41% either didn't know enough or had no opinion.

Another aspect that could potentially hurt Mr Biden’s campaign is that 14% of voters who supported him in 2020 now say they will back Mr Trump, are undecided or will not vote.
91% of those who voted for Mr. Trump in 2020 said they would continue to support him, 9% said they would vote for Mr. Biden, would not vote or were undecided.
The poll was conducted from October 5 to October 10 with 5,023 registered voters in seven battleground states.
Mr Trump's campaign quickly pointed to the poll as evidence of his ability to win the election, despite claims from some opponents that he could not beat Mr Biden.
The Biden campaign argues that polls are not predictive of the future, pointing out that Democrats beat all predictions in the recent midterm elections. “Predictions tend to look a little different a year later,” said Kevin Munoz, a Biden campaign spokesman.
Mr Biden has announced his re-election bid and is almost certain to be the Democratic nominee. Mr Trump is currently the leading candidate within the Republican Party.
Mr Biden is the oldest US president and has raised some concerns about his handling of the economy, although he and White House officials say the economic picture is much brighter than when he took office. Mr Trump has been embroiled in four criminal cases this year and a civil trial related to his business dealings, and faces a packed court schedule in the coming months.
