In 1983, Mr. Hoai returned to his hometown to do many jobs to make a living at Quyet Thang Farm after 4 years of military service. During this time, he got married. His wife was a worker at the farm, so his family was given 3.5 hectares of land. On this land, he and his wife planted smallholder rubber trees to increase their income. At that time, rubber latex was priced well, so the quality of life of his family gradually improved.

During his time as the Head of the Farmers' Association of Hamlet 1, Mr. Hoai was exposed to many production models that brought high economic efficiency, including the model of raising commercial chickens. Through the process of learning and being guided by acquaintances, Mr. Hoai decided to mobilize capital, renovate the 1,000 m2 of rubber garden land to invest in building a closed-loop barn system. With a total capital of 1.4 billion VND, Mr. Hoai's chicken barn system was scientifically built, with an electric cooling and heating system, automatic feeding troughs, clean water filter, etc.

“After I finished building the barn system, the company provided the chickens, feed, medicine and technical support. When it was time to sell, the company purchased the chickens at the listed price. Therefore, I did not have to worry about consumption. Every year, I raised 4 batches, each batch of 10,000 chickens. After deducting expenses, I earned a profit of more than 600 million VND,” said Mr. Hoai.

When asked about the breeding techniques, Mr. Hoai shared that when the chicks are first brought to the farm, they will be brooded using an electric heating system for 10-12 days. The brooding temperature for the first 3 days is about 35 degrees Celsius, then gradually decreases in the following days. The temperature in the chicken farm is guaranteed to be about 22 degrees Celsius in the summer, from 25-28 degrees Celsius in the winter. Mr. Hoai has a generator ready to ensure the temperature in the farm for the chickens, in case of a power outage.

Every day, Mr. Hoai feeds the chickens twice, in the morning and afternoon. The food is poured into the tank, from which the conveyor belt will carry it to the feeding troughs. The chickens' drinking water is also provided by the automatic water supply system. When the chickens are grown, Mr. Hoai spends a certain amount of time each day letting the chickens forage under the forest canopy. After 2.5 months of raising, the chickens have an average weight of 2.2 kg/chicken. For each batch of 10,000 chickens, Mr. Hoai supplies the company with 16 tons of chicken meat. The remaining weight is the profit he receives.

According to Mr. Hoai, a clean living environment is a very important factor in determining the health of chickens. To ensure hygiene and limit disease, Mr. Hoai raises chickens on biological bedding. After each batch, Mr. Hoai sells about 18 million VND worth of manure. He also invested in installing a modern water filtration system before pumping it to plastic troughs for the chickens to drink.

In addition to raising chickens, Mr. Hoai's family still maintains a rubber forest of over 1 hectare and raises a herd of over 10 wild boars. Mr. Hoai always enthusiastically shares his experience and techniques in raising chickens with those in need.

He and his wife also regularly contribute and support funds for the locality to organize social security programs and activities, helping families in difficult circumstances in the area. With his efforts in developing the family economy and his contributions to the community, Mr. Hoai was recently awarded the "Pink Lotus" award by Vinh Linh district.
