Father holding 2-month-old baby receives appointment as Associate Professor

(Dan Tri) - At the appointment ceremony of the titles of Professor and Associate Professor of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, Dr. Le Thanh Long received the decision with his wife and 2-month-old child.
On the afternoon of January 11, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (Vietnam National University) held a ceremony to honor and appoint the titles of Professor and Associate Professor in 2023.

During the appointment ceremony, the image of Dr. Le Thanh Long, who met the standards for the title of Associate Professor, and his wife holding their newborn baby to receive the decision made many people happy with the happiness of the young family. Dr. Le Thanh Long shared that the baby was only two months old, the first child of the couple. Coincidentally, the time the baby was born was also the time Mr. Long was on the list of the State Council of Professors recognized as meeting the standards for the title of Associate Professor. For the young father, the title of Associate Professor at the age of 35 is like a meaningful gift to welcome his child. Just a few days ago, Mr. Long was recognized as one of the 14 outstanding young citizens of Ho Chi Minh City in 2023.

Dr. Le Thanh Long was born in 1988, from Tinh Tho commune, Son Tinh district, Quang Ngai province. He won first prize in the field of mechanics, outstanding Vietnamese scientific researcher in Taiwan in 2016. In 2022, Dr. Le Thanh Long received the Golden Globe Science and Technology Award. Up to now, Dr. Long has had 35 scientific articles published in scientific journals, participated in prestigious international scientific conferences; 16 scientific articles have been published in domestic scientific journals, chaired a national-level project (Nafostes) and chaired a project at the Department of Science and Technology of Ho Chi Minh City, a project at the National University; 2 grassroots-level projects have been accepted as meeting requirements... In 2022-2023, Dr. Long has 5 grassroots-level initiatives recognized; successfully accepted a scientific research project at the Department of Science and Technology of Ho Chi Minh City with the product Negative Pressure Room. This product has practical significance in joining hands to prevent and fight epidemics, protect health and raise community awareness. In addition to his role as a lecturer, Mr. Long also takes on the role of Chairman of the school's Startup and Innovation Club, participating in many social activities. Between teaching, research, social activities until having a child, Mr. Long admitted... "being a father for the first time is the hardest thing". He practiced breastfeeding, changing diapers, bathing and reading many books on parenting. "Being a father reminds me that I will have to try harder in raising children, taking care of my family as well as being more responsible for my work and the community", Dr. Le Thanh Long confided. In 2023, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology has 13 teachers who have met the standards of Professor and Associate Professor. Of which, the only person recognized as meeting the standards of Professor is Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Loc, born in 1964, Department of Machine Design, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.

Dr. Nguyen Huu Loc has 28 scientific articles in prestigious international journals (SCIE/Scopus), published 17 textbooks and books by Ho Chi Minh City National University Publishing House. He participated in and edited 3 books on building and developing training programs according to the CDIO approach, and has 8 international and domestic conference articles on CDIO. The youngest person to be appointed to the title of Associate Professor of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology in 2023 is Dr. Lai Van Qui, born in 1989, Faculty of Civil Engineering. Dr. Lai Van Qui has published 57 ISI/Scopus articles and 11 domestic articles.
