However, because he disagreed with the above decision, businessman Nghiem Duc appealed and requested to raise the two children on the grounds of "better economic conditions". The female singer then also appealed, claiming that the children should live with their mother until they are old enough to decide who they want to live with, so she requested to raise both children.

In early July 2023, the appeal hearing of the divorce case between the actress and her ex-husband took place at the People's Court of Ho Chi Minh City. The court continued to postpone because the two sides could not agree on child custody.

On the evening of July 8, 2023, Diep Lam Anh's ex-husband suddenly spoke out about the divorce and child custody dispute. According to the businessman, he and his ex-wife had a "failed marriage". He took responsibility for his past wrongdoings. For many months, he remained silent in the face of public criticism and contempt.

Nghiem Duc also told his ex-wife to stop posting family matters publicly on social media. For him, this does not solve anything, but on the contrary, it greatly affects the children's psychology.

On the afternoon of September 25, 2023, after several pauses, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Court decided to uphold the original judgment. Accordingly, Diep Lam Anh has the right to raise her first daughter, and her son will live with his father. Businessman Nghiem Duc voluntarily provides 50 million VND per month for his daughter.

With this decision, the female artist said she will temporarily end her troubled journey. She said she always wanted to live to do something meaningful, to help at least those around her.

"I don't expect any woman to go through what I did, but if she does, I hope all women have the strength and courage to overcome it all.
