Without going to any school or being trained in a professional environment, Le Phong Phu (born in 1985) in Quarter 5, Gio Linh Town, Gio Linh District, still left his mark on the amateur football scene throughout the province. He played football simply, nurtured his passion from the neighborhood's football fields and shone in his own way with many collective achievements and individual titles at prestigious tournaments. Contribute to local football
Since his junior high school years, Phu has been a regular in the school's talent teams, participating in school sports competitions, Phu Dong Sports Festival... achieving many high achievements. In 2003, Phu officially participated in his first major tournament, the Gio Linh town's 11-a-side youth football tournament. With his youthful strength and clever tactical thinking, he excelled, and together with the Quarter 5 football team won the Championship Cup, Phu himself won the title of top scorer.
The first time participating in a major tournament when he was only 18 years old, this player achieved a proud achievement. In the following years, in 6 times wearing the football team jersey of Quarter 5 to participate in the 11-a-side Youth Men's Football Tournament of Gio Linh town, Mr. Phu won the Championship cup 4 times and was runner-up 2 times. He personally won the title of player with the most goals in the tournament 4 times in 2003, 2007, 2014 and 2018. Proud to be born and raised in Quarter 5, Gio Linh town, a land with a long history of achievements in men's football, Le Phong Phu is even more confident in competition, contributing a lot to the local football movement.
Despite his busy work and being far from home, every time his hometown has a tournament, he is always ready to return to compete with the highest spirit and enthusiasm. In his strong positions as a striker and midfielder, Phu has surprised many managers and coaches of major amateur football teams in the province with his technique, courage, modern football thinking, fair-play spirit and accuracy with unexpected finishing moves, creating many beautiful goals.

For many years, Mr. Phu and the team of Quarter 5 won the Championship Cup of the Gio Linh Town 7-a-side Men's Football Tournament, and he himself won the title of best player of the tournament in 2022. When he reached the age of "veteran", Mr. Phu continued to participate in coaching and building the development of the local youth football team. Not only contributing to local football, since the appearance of artificial turf fields in Quang Tri province, Mr. Phu actively participated in grassroots football tournaments, amateur football tournaments throughout the province and together with his teammates won many high achievements, dedicating to the audience eye-catching matches...
Continuously contributing to grassroots football
Mr. Phu shared: “I am used to playing on an 11-player field in Gio Linh district, so when I played football at Duy Dan artificial turf field in Dong Ha city, I was confused and had to spend some time getting used to the rhythm with my teammates.
To have the best tactical thinking and physical strength, I actively practice a lot, accumulating experience through each match. At the same time, I always listen to the opinions of my seniors. However, in my opinion, no matter which field I play on, as long as I maintain a spirit of dedication, each player will have a good impression in the hearts of the audience."
As Phu shared, only by witnessing some of this player's matches can one fully see his enthusiasm and dedication to the king of sports. His strengths in competition are knowing how to create breakthroughs on the field, being delicate and precise in receiving passes and supporting teammates to score beautiful goals. On the field, he plays with courage, intelligence and is not inferior to players who have been trained, so Phu is invited to play by many amateur and amateur football teams.
He used to play for veteran amateur football teams: Quang Tri town, Dong Ha city, Gio Linh; football teams: Huy Tuan, Gio Linh Sport... Phu's main job is an employee of a non-governmental project in Quang Tri and also participates in the football team of this project... No matter what color he wears, he always gives his all, bringing high achievements to the team and many titles of best player of the tournament, player with the most goals of the tournament.
In particular, in 2022, Phu participated in the Quang Tri Veterans Football Tournament in Ho Chi Minh City, playing for the Dong Ha Veterans Club to win the Championship Cup and the title of best player of the tournament. Taking on the role of coach of the veteran team of Ward 5, Phu led the team to win 1 Championship Cup and 1 Runner-up title at the Gio Linh Town Veterans Football Tournament.

With his increasingly rich playing experience, Mr. Phu has been trusted to be the captain of the Gio Linh District Men's Football Team, Gio Linh District Veterans Football Club, Huy Tuan Football Club from 2014 to present. As a captain, he has done a good job of inspiring and motivating his teammates and playing excellently.
Notable achievements include winning the runner-up prize with the Gio Linh 2 district football team at the 7-a-side football championship in 2003 and the Men's Football Tournament, the 8th Provincial Sports Festival in 2021-2022. With the Huy Tuan football team, he won the amateur football tournaments in Gio Linh district and Cua Tung town (Vinh Linh) 4 times. Most recently, Le Phong Phu and the Gio Linh Veterans football team won the third prize at the 7-a-side football tournament of Quang Tri Veterans clubs in 2023.
Along with playing amateur football, player Le Phong Phu always tries his best to contribute to discovering many young talents for Quang Tri football by participating in coaching youth football teams.
He confided: “In addition to playing football for passion, I believe that sports are for health improvement, so in the future I will always try to spend time to continue playing football when possible. On the other hand, when participating in training and building a local youth football team, I also have to be an example for the children to follow.”
