On the afternoon of June 20, the leader of the People's Committee of Huong Phu commune (Nam Dong district, Thua Thien - Hue province) said that the local government had just issued a notice asking local people not to graze livestock and not to approach the area where a bomb weighing more than 200kg was discovered next to a stream in Thanh An village (Huong Phu commune) to prevent danger.
Authorities determined that this was a bomb with the symbol MK82/500LB, weighing 227kg, with a diameter of 27cm and a length of more than 1.5m.

The leader of Huong Phu Commune People's Committee said that this is a large bomb left over from the war, which was exposed when the water level of Ta Trach irrigation lake dropped, causing the stream to dry up.
After discovering the large bomb, the Military Command of Huong Phu commune and the province's bomb disposal team set up ropes and cordoned off the area for on-site disposal.
To ensure safety, local authorities are currently coordinating with functional forces to cordon off the area, set up warning lines, and send forces to block off the road to carry out explosive disposal. The limited distance from the bomb detection area to the safe zone must ensure a radius of 1.5km.
