(VTC News) - Despite her family's difficult circumstances and lack of conditions to attend extra classes, Dinh Thi Xuyen excelled and became the only candidate in Hoa Binh province this year to achieve 3 scores of 10.
In the recent high school graduation exam, Dinh Thi Xuyen, a 12th grader at Muong Bi High School in Tan Lac District, Hoa Binh Province, achieved 3 perfect scores in History, Geography and Civic Education. Thanks to her excellent performance, she became a rare candidate to achieve 10 points in the Social Science group. The result was Xuyen's efforts to self-study throughout her three years of high school. Because her family was poor, she did not have the opportunity to attend extra classes, so she studied by herself through books and teachers in class.

"When I saw the score, I didn't believe it, I had to rub my eyes several times because I was afraid there was something wrong. After confirming that it was my result, I screamed with joy," said the female student born in 2006. History and Geography are her two strong subjects. In addition to textbooks, the female student often learns more knowledge from books and newspapers, the more she reads, the more passionate she becomes about these subjects. "History and Geography are two closely related fields. Understanding that, I often study by the knowledge connection method, which helps me understand and remember the content and also helps me conquer the high-level application questions in the exam," said Xuyen. Sharing about Civic Education, Xuyen commented that this is not an easy subject, many terms are related to law, to study well, you need to understand the nature instead of memorizing or rote learning. When learning any content that she doesn't understand, Xuyen is ready to ask teachers and friends to explain. Xuyen is admired by many people not only for her high scores but above all for her perseverance in overcoming difficulties.

Xuyen's family lives in Bay hamlet, Phu Cuong commune, a disadvantaged area (commune 135) of Hoa Binh province. For many years, Xuyen has been supported with rice and money to go to school. The student always tells herself to try to study hard to escape poverty. On her days off, Xuyen often helps her mother sell water, corn, bamboo rice and grilled meat at Da Trang pass, along Highway 6 from Hanoi to Mai Chau. While selling goods, Xuyen also takes the time to do her homework. She always considers work a joy because meeting and talking with many tourists helps her become more confident and mature. "Sometimes when I meet foreign guests, I also have the opportunity to improve my English speaking ability," said the Muong ethnic girl. In addition to selling goods, Xuyen often goes to herd buffaloes, weed corn and potato fields and does housework to help her parents. The student always allocates her time reasonably to do many jobs well at the same time. Receiving the news that her daughter got a high score in an important exam, Ms. Bui Thi O - Xuyen's mother, said: " She has many dreams. I often tease her that she can't do them, but she is very determined. She said she will try to study hard, earn a lot of money to take me on a trip around the world."
