Overview of the Vietnam Journalists Association opening regional specialized conferences in 19 provinces of the Central - Central Highlands region.
Implementing the emulation movement to build a cultural environment in press agencies, over the past year, provincial and municipal press associations have actively implemented, organized emulation launching ceremonies, signed emulation covenants in emulation clusters, branches, journalist clubs, and affiliated journalists. At the same time, they have increased the inclusion of press culture content in association activities, conferences, seminars, and talks; linked the building of a cultural environment with the content of political, ethical, professional, and technical training and development; and raised their sense of responsibility in the "mission of a writer" with "a bright mind, sharp pen, and pure heart". Through the implementation of the emulation movement, many press agencies and associations at all levels have had positive changes in both awareness and action. Many press agencies have identified prominent and urgent issues to focus on solving, such as: rectifying discipline, work discipline, professional ethics, and promptly correcting inappropriate statements on social networks by some journalists.
Regarding the implementation of Decision No. 979-QD/HNBVN dated April 6, 2018 on the activities of members who are resident reporters in localities, in the past 5 years, the provincial and municipal journalists' associations have completed procedures to receive 1,021 resident reporters; proactively coordinated with competent authorities to review and grasp the number and list of members who are resident reporters in localities. Decision No. 979-QD/HNBVN has facilitated local journalists' associations in the management, inspection and supervision of members who are resident reporters, creating positive changes, achieving very important results, contributing to limiting activities beyond control as well as promptly protecting the legitimate rights and interests of members; promoting the development of Vietnamese journalism and building a strong association organization.
