The special thing in the play is that the audience heard again the voice of People's Artist Thanh Thuy singing the song "Bang Khuang Truong Sa" (poem by Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen The Ky, music by Le Duc Hung). This is the theme song of the play, honoring the navy soldiers who guard the continental shelf, drilling rigs and islands of the homeland day and night.
The water puppet play "Before the Waves" (author: Mai Tham, director: Tran Duoc) is told in the form of water puppetry with performances by actors.
It is a very simple story, sending young audiences admiration for navy soldiers.
Funny water puppets are loved by children in the puppet show "Before the Waves"
The play is about a boy named Viet, whose father was a navy soldier who died in the war against invaders to protect the country's sea and islands. Viet grew up and dreamed of following in his father's footsteps and becoming a navy soldier.
Viet joined the army and volunteered to become an island soldier. He then passed the entrance exam to the Naval Academy and continued to strive to fulfill his life's ambition.
The puppet show "Before the Waves" creates very vivid water puppets.
Through the form of water puppetry, the visuals are truly vivid, evoking the imagination of children and parents about the life of a navy soldier.
The smooth combination of visuals, lighting, music and acting through very realistic and lively dialogue has won the hearts of the majority of young audiences present at the premiere performance, and from there, we believe that when it is released to the public during the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin this year, the play will attract viewers.
The story of a Vietnamese boy loved by audiences in the water puppet show "Before the Waves"
Although the stage space of the History Museum's water pavilion was very small, the young audience cheered and rejoiced at the appearance of water puppets and coral reefs, sea turtles, dogs, dolphins... swimming freely.
There is also Truong Sa island, with a very sparkling image of a drilling rig in the open sea.
The music creates a poignant, emotional atmosphere with the new harmony of Vietnamese folk songs, combined with the vivid performance of dramatic voices, giving the water puppet characters a soul, blending with the audience's emotions.

Over the years, water puppetry has seen new improvements in the staging of the Southern Arts Theatre, incorporating contemporary stories and scripts that vividly reflect social life. Through the water puppets, the audience can imagine the lives of the characters whose stage is the water surface.
The space has rain, smoke, and sounds like the ocean floor, all bringing the audience into a very unique and interesting creative world.
It is expected that after the Tet holiday, the play "Before the Waves" will continue to spread, serving a large audience at home and abroad.
