According to Digitaltrends , with the Nokia G42, users can easily replace a cracked screen, battery, USB-C charging port, or broken back cover themselves without having to take it to a repair center or throw away the phone. To do this, HMD Global has partnered with iFixit, where users can order replacement parts and follow instructions to install them at home. That's something we rarely see in the smartphone world, even from the best models from Apple, Samsung, and Google.

Back on the Nokia G22 at launch, a Nokia rep was able to swap out the screen in about five minutes. Of course, the 5G antennas make the job a little longer on the Nokia G42. All of this makes for a longer-lasting phone, and iFixit will be supplying parts for the Nokia G42 for the next five years, while HMD Global will offer a three-year warranty on the phone for UK users.
When it comes to the Nokia G42, a new series of durability and compression tests have been used to ensure it can last a long time, with the battery said to retain 80% of its capacity after 800 charge cycles, which equates to around 4 years of use, while the software gets 2 years of major OS updates and 3 years of monthly security updates.
HMD has given users two color options, a bright purple and a darker gray, plus made sure the specs are appealing too. The phone has a 6.56-inch display with a 90Hz refresh rate, a Snapdragon 480+ chip with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage expandable via a microSD card slot, as well as a 5,000mAh battery, NFC and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The phone is 8.55mm thick and weighs 193 grams, has an IP52 water resistance rating, and has a unibody design with a back panel made from 85% recycled materials. It has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.
The Nokia G42 is now officially available from HMD Global at different prices depending on the market. In the UK, the device is priced at around £199 on Nokia's own website.
