According to estimates by expert George William Herbert of the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey in California (USA), the scale of the main explosion shown in the video on social networks could be equivalent to 200-240 tons of high explosives exploding.
Russian officials said schools in the area had been closed. A local evacuation was also ordered in Toropets after falling debris from a drone sparked a fire.
