Many “must do” tasks
The plan for developing Quang Nam tourism products to 2030 (hereinafter referred to as the plan) was born to catch up with the opportunities that have been and are opening up in this field.
According to the list of specific tasks to implement the plan, in 2025 the local tourism industry will simultaneously implement many important tasks, which if concretized are considered to create a great leverage for tourism to make a breakthrough.
Most notably, the Resolution on Quang Nam tourism development to 2030, vision 2035, to replace Resolution No. 08 issued by the Provincial Party Committee in 2016.
Also according to the plan, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism will simultaneously develop three important contents next year, including: Developing a policy mechanism for developing green and sustainable tourism; developing a project to support the development of community tourism and rural tourism; developing a pilot mechanism to support attracting MICE tourist groups (conference/seminars) and foreign groups to organize weddings in Quang Nam.
It can be seen that these are all types of tourism that are making great progress and gradually becoming trends, so management agencies should quickly step in to seize the opportunity.
Especially when in the past, the business community moved towards green tourism in the province mainly in the form of encouragement, while the Project to support the development of some community tourism spots was discussed in 2020 but was eventually abandoned for many reasons.
Explaining this, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hong - Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism said that 2025 is the first year of implementing the budget for the period up to 2030, so it is necessary to step up consultation on policy mechanisms for the whole period.
“In the central government's tourism planning documents, Quang Nam is identified as a province that needs to focus on promoting development to become one of the country's major tourist centers.
However, currently the tourism sector no longer has any support policies from the resolution of the Provincial People's Council while Quang Nam tourism still has a lot of potential for development but has not been exploited.
Therefore, Quang Nam tourism industry really needs policy mechanisms to promote tourism development in the coming time" - Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hong said.
Interdisciplinary engagement
Also according to the plan to develop tourism products in Quang Nam, many tasks will require strong participation from relevant parties to be highly feasible.
These tasks are mainly in the fields of investment, capital mobilization, quality improvement, product diversification; creating a favorable environment for businesses and the community to develop tourism.
Some important contents that have a great impact on the development of the tourism industry include: Investing in dredging the Co Co, Truong Giang, Thu Bon rivers, exploiting inland waterway transport connecting with tourist areas and spots.
Invest in upgrading the station system and railway lines connecting with the railway networks of provinces and cities developing tourism (Da Nang, Thua Thien Hue...) into unique tourism products.
Speed up the upgrading of Chu Lai Airport into an international airport; develop mechanisms and policies to encourage and support production and business of small-scale handicrafts for ethnic minorities at community tourism development sites...
Most of the above tasks are scheduled to be completed by 2030, the end of the planning period, reflecting the low possibility of realizing the tasks. Meanwhile, promoting rail, river and air tourism is urgent to improve the destination's capacity to welcome visitors.
Mr. Truong Nam Thang - Senior expert on marketing and tourism policy of the Swiss Sustainable Tourism Program said: "Some groups of indicators that Quang Nam is rated low in the Vietnam Tourism Development Index 2023 are beyond the ability of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to improve because they are less related to the functions of the tourism industry. Because tourism is a comprehensive economic sector, many tasks require strong direction from the Provincial People's Committee to relevant agencies to help tourism make a breakthrough."
