To achieve the goal of digital transformation in the health sector, medical facilities in the province have implemented many solutions for paying for medical examination and treatment costs without using cash, helping to reduce administrative procedures, save time and costs, and create convenience for people.
Staff of the Social Work Department of Thanh Hoa City General Hospital guide people on non-cash payment methods.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Bang in Ngoc Trao ward, Thanh Hoa city, said: “More than 2 years ago, when I went to see a doctor, because I only focused on keeping personal documents such as citizen ID, health insurance card, medical examination book, I lost my wallet without knowing. But now using cashless payment is very convenient. When going to see a doctor, I only need my citizen ID, mobile phone, scan the QR code to pay the hospital fee quickly, without having to wait. Cashless payment makes me feel more secure, not afraid of the risk of losing money in crowded places.”
Thanh Hoa General Hospital is one of the pioneering hospitals in collecting non-cash hospital fees in the province. To facilitate administrative procedures for people coming to receive medical examination and treatment, the hospital has fully equipped and linked with banks to proactively serve the payment of medical examination and treatment costs in a non-cash manner. On average, the hospital receives hundreds of patients coming to receive medical examination and treatment every day. Previously, at the area for depositing and paying hospital fees, the number of patients or their relatives standing in line waiting for their turn was very large, creating pressure on both medical staff and people. Now, thanks to the implementation of non-cash payment methods, the hospital fee payment area is quite open. Currently, about 30% of people when receiving medical examination and treatment at the hospital actively pay hospital fees without using cash. Non-cash payment also helps the hospital easily control the source of hospital fee revenue, reducing pressure on fee collectors when patients are crowded.
At medical facilities, queuing to pay hospital fees is always a pressing issue for patients and their families. Therefore, cashless payment of hospital fees is an urgent requirement. In order for people to grasp the benefits of cashless payment services, medical facilities regularly send staff from the Social Work Department to directly advise people coming to the hospital for medical examination and treatment or to consult at the fee collection counter about the benefits of this type of payment. Thereby, the rate of people implementing cashless electronic payment methods has been gradually increased. With a variety of forms of hospital fee payment, people are given maximum convenience in the process of paying for medical services, which is fast, safe and convenient.
Along with that, to help people access non-cash payment methods for hospital fees, the State Bank - Thanh Hoa Provincial Branch has directed banks and credit institutions in the area to provide intermediary payment services in coordination with medical units and facilities to ensure payment infrastructure, software equipment, smooth services, and a variety of services and electronic payment methods. With many efforts, up to now, 100% of provincial and district-level medical examination and treatment facilities have accepted non-cash payment for medical services, helping to shorten the medical examination and treatment process; integrating with the hospital information system, electronic medical records, contributing to promoting the digital transformation process at hospitals, towards the implementation of smart hospitals, paperless hospitals.
In the coming time, medical facilities in the province will continue to cooperate with banks to invest in technological infrastructure, machinery and equipment, and further expand cashless hospital payment methods. At the same time, promote communication about cashless hospital payment to patients and their relatives about the practical benefits of using the service, gradually moving towards a smart, paperless hospital model.
