Going back to school after Tet is not always easy for most students. Therefore, schools in Ho Chi Minh City, depending on the age, have taken different measures to get students back to studying.

The days back to school after Tet At Ty for Ha - a student at Nguyen Van To Secondary School, District 10, Ho Chi Minh City - are days with countless stories to tell. Because she is in class, she gets to participate in many games, many spring challenges and activities with the school and class.
"Going to school is fun"
Ha said that in class, students receive lucky money from their teachers and more specifically, in subjects, there will be bonus quizzes at the beginning of the new year to get extra points. "Going to school at the beginning of the new year, if you accidentally answer wrongly, the teacher will not deduct points but encourage students to answer correctly to get extra points. So going to school after Tet is not stressful" - Ha said.
Along with that, right after the first day of school, Nguyen Van To Secondary School also let the students of the whole school connect with each other through mid-class exercises, each day there will be a few minutes of collective performance. This is the time when the whole school is connected with each other, dancing together to the music.
At Phu Tho Primary School, District 11, the school space after Tet is also bustling with many activities to help students get back into the rhythm of learning. The school maintains the spring atmosphere before Tet to welcome students back to school with many common and separate activities for each class.
"In class, the teacher organizes many games of picking flowers, answering questions in many subjects, for each correct answer we get to draw a lucky money... And when we have activities with the school, we go with the teachers to give out plants, water the plants... I like going back to school, going to school is so much fun" - Tuyet Nhi, a 2nd grade student at Phu Tho Primary School, said.
For students at Luong Dinh Cua Primary School in District 3, each class has a different way of "pulling students" back to studying. In class 4/1, on the first day back to school after Tet, all students received lucky money (lucky money) from their homeroom teacher and a piggy bank to carry out a meaningful long-term love connection project.
Not only primary and secondary school students, many high school students also feel happy with the "rewards" when returning to school after the Lunar New Year holiday.
"I love the feeling of discussing the riddles given by teachers with my friends on the first day of school after Tet. Every year the school quotes famous quotes so we can have lively discussions about the new year" - Minh Anh, a student at Bui Thi Xuan High School, District 1, said.
These days, going to school every day is fun. I get lucky money from my teachers and my friends tell me stories about Tet.

"Reward" gifts
According to a survey conducted by Tuoi Tre in some primary, secondary and high schools in Ho Chi Minh City, as of February 5, the number of students returning to school after Tet was still not enough. Some classes had more than 10 students who were on a "spring trip" and had not yet returned to school.
"Every year, the number of students returning to school after Tet is always short. This is a common situation in many schools in Ho Chi Minh City because students have returned to their hometowns and have not been able to come back yet. But this year, the absence seems to be greater because parents' perceptions have changed. Many parents now prioritize their children's Tet experience over the first few days of school in the new year. Therefore, schools must try harder to make the first days of spring full of excitement for students to study," said the principal of a high school in Ho Chi Minh City.
Teacher Chau Hien Duc - group leader of grade 4, Luong Dinh Cua Primary School, District 3 - commented that after Tet, many students still want to take a break and have fun with their families, which is a common situation. Understanding this common psychology, before Tet, teacher Duc prepared "tricks" to get students back to class after Tet in an enthusiastic way.
"Before Tet, I often "hang" gifts to encourage learning spirit. For example, "making a Tet diary" needs to be submitted on the first day of school to exchange for scratch cards. These scratch cards are trendy gifts for students, students like to own them, so students are very excited to go back to school to exchange for gifts.
I also share the good luck of the whole school year so that students will enjoy going to school, such as if on the first day of school, they write beautifully, without any cross-outs or mistakes in their calculations, I believe that this whole semester will be full of good grades and excellent titles, or if they discuss actively in groups of 4 and work quickly, the whole year will always be successful," said Mr. Duc.
Not only that, to help students return to studying, in the first days of school after Tet, teachers will ask students to work in groups, not individually, and skillfully bring the learning topic close to the spring days so that students have exciting and enthusiastic learning materials.
"When learning to write about trees, I let the whole class discuss apricot trees, peach trees, kumquat trees... Working in groups, the students discussed enthusiastically. Therefore, after the first day when 2 students were missing, on the second day the class had 42 students and everyone was excited to participate in the discussion," Mr. Duc revealed.
Inspire learning
Mr. Huynh Thanh Phu, principal of Bui Thi Xuan High School, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, said that for high school students, creating inspiration for learning will be easier than for younger students because they already know how to determine their learning goals. However, at the beginning of the new year, schools and teachers still have to have "tricks" to get students back to studying.
"The school will organize common spaces under the flag on the first day back to school, then spend time for subject teachers to organize activities to attract students to return to school to study happily. This includes sending wishes to students and making funny clips of the students in the new year to share with the class and teachers," said Mr. Phu.
