Another new point in the 10th grade entrance exam for the next school year is the appearance of two new integrated subjects: Natural Sciences (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) and History - Geography.
If in the past, these subjects were separate, according to the new program, 5 subjects are integrated into 2 subjects, so the exam will also be designed to be integrated. In Natural Science, knowledge will be spread across 3 subjects with 40 questions. History-Geography also has 40 questions that stop at the level of recognition, understanding and application.
Requires practical application of knowledge
According to Ms. Hoang Tu Uyen, Head of the Foreign Language Group at the Secondary School, Luong The Vinh Secondary School - High School (Hanoi), the structure of the illustrated exam, in addition to familiar questions, has many completely new types of questions such as: requiring the arrangement and selection of sentences to form a complete paragraph; requiring the re-expression of instructions on signs, announcements or filling in part or the whole sentence in the blank to complete the paragraph...
According to the instructions of the Ministry of Education and Training, provinces and cities have the right to decide on the plan and time for admission to the first level. At this time, students and schools are eagerly waiting for the exam plan. However, only Quang Nam has announced the 10th grade entrance exam plan. Students will take 3 subjects: Literature, Math, Foreign Language combined with the results of 4 years of secondary school report card.
According to Ms. Uyen, the illustration questions closely follow the orientation of developing learners' capacity and qualities of the new program, which requires students to apply a lot of practical knowledge to solve problems.
The number of single questions has decreased, instead, new types of questions have appeared to test knowledge, reading comprehension, information analysis, logical thinking in organizing and developing ideas. The error finding type has disappeared and the communication function type, the type of finding synonyms and antonyms has decreased from 2 questions to 1 question.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Tam, a Math teacher at Giang Vo Secondary School, Ba Dinh District (Hanoi), said: "The difference from the previous exam is that there are more statistics and probability sections; there are more math problems related to solving practical problems; and applying interdisciplinary knowledge."
Regarding the Literature subject, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hang Nga, Head of the Literature Department at Hoai Duc B High School (Hanoi), assessed that there are many new points similar to the sample questions for the high school graduation exam, but the level of knowledge is not too difficult. With the new sample questions, teachers will teach students the knowledge and skills to do the questions without using materials in textbooks as required by the Ministry of Education and Training at the beginning of the school year.
