In 2024, the people of Coc My commune, Bat Xat district doubled the taro growing area compared to the previous year to increase income.
According to information from the People's Committee of Coc My commune, in the first 6 months of 2024, local people planted 40 hectares of taro, an increase of nearly 23 hectares compared to the previous year.

In addition to some villages growing taro from 2023 such as Na Lung and Vi Kem, in 2024 the taro growing area will be expanded by 15 hectares to some other villages such as Nam Chon and Ta Cau Lieng. These are remote villages with high and steep terrain, and people's lives are still difficult.

According to local people's assessment, taro plants are growing and developing well in newly planted villages and will be ready for harvest around October.
If taro yield remains stable as last year (18 tons/ha), in 2024, Coc My commune people will harvest about 720 tons of tubers.


It is known that in 2023, the people of Coc My commune planted 17.5 hectares of taro, harvested 315 tons of tubers, and sold 4.7 billion VND. This is a new crop, helping the people of the highlands of Coc My commune increase their income and sustainably reduce poverty.
