Microsoft continues to experience serious outages
Microsoft suffers widespread problems
According to online service monitoring site Downdetector, the number of reports of problems with Microsoft services such as Outlook, Exchange, Teams and 365 spiked after 3:30 a.m. on March 2 (Vietnam time). More than 37,000 users reported problems with Outlook, about 24,000 people had problems with Microsoft 365 services and hundreds of people were unable to access Teams.
The hardest hit areas included New York, Chicago and Los Angeles, but the impact was felt globally. Users quickly took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to express their frustration and concern over the incident.
Microsoft has confirmed the issue and says it is actively investigating the cause. On its service health update page, the company says it has identified the underlying cause and is working to roll back the service update that caused the issue. Microsoft also says it will continue to monitor until the impact is resolved for all services.
In an update on X, the Microsoft 365 Status account confirmed that the company is "implementing an ongoing monitoring phase to ensure the service remains stable and address any residual impacts to other Microsoft 365 services."
This incident once again highlights today’s heavy reliance on online services and the importance of ensuring their stability. It also serves as a reminder for businesses and individual users to prepare contingency plans to avoid being affected by similar incidents in the future.
