DNVN - “My wife and I have been in the semiconductor business for a long time and have been very successful, making a lot of money. At one point, we thought, “What is the use of having so much money?”, shared Prof. Dr. Erich Johann Lejeune, founder of the “Heart for Heart” Organization (Germany), who has just been awarded the “Dedication to Da Nang” Award.
On the morning of March 18, Danang Hospital (DOH) held the opening ceremony of an interventional room equipped with the Philips Azurion 7 digital subtraction angiography (DSA) system sponsored by the organization "Heart for Heart" (Germany), and at the same time honored the outstanding contributions of Prof. Dr. Erich Johann Lejeune, founder and his wife, Dr. Irène Lejeune, CEO of this organization.
Children with congenital heart disease being treated at Da Nang Hospital presented flowers to express gratitude to Professor Erich Johann Lejeune and his wife.
In 2006, they sponsored the first DSA system to the Hospital, marking an important milestone in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases at the Hospital. In 2013, they continued to support the establishment of the Department of Congenital & Structural Heart Disease, and sponsored the second DSA system worth 26.87 billion VND.
Director of the Da Nang Department of Health Tran Thanh Thuy and Prof. Dr. Erich Johann Lejeune and his wife opened the nameplate and inaugurated the intervention room equipped with the Azurion 7 digital subtraction angiography (DSA) system at Da Nang Hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. Lejeune are also an important bridge to bring leading experts to the Hospital, such as Professor Henrich Netz and Professor Trong Phi. These are the people who directly trained, guided and provided professional support in the early stages of establishing the Structural Congenital Heart Department. Thanks to that, thousands of hearts have been revived, thousands of families have found joy and hope again.
The third DSA system was sponsored by Professor and Doctor Erich Johann Lejeune and his wife for Da Nang Hospital.
“My husband and I have been in the semiconductor business for a long time and have been very successful, making a lot of money. At one point, we thought: “What is the use of having so much money?”. At that time, we received a request from the Hospital for the Gifted that there were 3 children with congenital heart disease who needed intervention. Since then, the relationship between us and the “Heart for the Heart” organization with the Hospital for the Gifted began,” shared Prof. Dr. Erich Johann Lejeune.
He said that 2026 will mark the 20th anniversary of the relationship between the Heart for Heart Foundation and the Hospital for Tropical Diseases, which is also the 80th birthday of his wife, Dr. Irène Lejeune. He and his wife have just discussed and agreed that next year they will continue to support the Hospital for Tropical Diseases with another DSA system. At the same time, there will be other small projects to support mothers and children who come to the Hospital for treatment and have to stay in the hospital for a long time.
