Coffee prices have remained high in recent months, bringing good profits to farmers. However, experts warn that hoarding at this time can be risky.

A representative of the Vietnam Coffee and Cocoa Association said that coffee prices may stabilize in the short term. It is expected that in the second and third quarters of 2025, prices may fluctuate strongly as many countries enter the harvest season, especially Brazil - the world's largest coffee producer.

In addition to seasonal factors, the coffee market is also affected by speculative activities and trade tensions between major economies . Changes in global economic or trade policies can directly affect coffee prices, forcing businesses to be cautious in their inventory strategies.

With prices remaining above VND100,000/kg, coffee growers earn good profits when selling their products. However, for businesses, this opens up opportunities but also poses many challenges. In fact, many businesses have made large profits thanks to high coffee prices in recent times, but many have also encountered difficulties due to stockpiling goods at the wrong time.

Pepper prices continue to rise

World pepper price situation

According to the update from the International Pepper Community (IPC) at 5:00 a.m. on March 19, 2025, the world pepper market continues to remain stable and high. However, pepper prices in Indonesia have decreased again after yesterday's increase, with an adjustment of 23 - 33 USD/ton.

Vietnam's pepper export market remains stable, with some slight downward adjustments. Currently, Vietnamese black pepper 500 g/l is priced at 7,000 USD/ton; 550 g/l is at 7,200 USD/ton, while white pepper is being traded at 10,000 USD/ton.

Pepper production situation in Vietnam

In Dong Nai, especially in Long Khanh, people are in the pepper harvest season. Compared to previous years, pepper prices this year remain high, helping people have better income. It is forecasted that the demand for pepper in the world will remain stable at a high level, which may cause pepper prices to continue to increase in the coming time.

However, despite the good price of pepper, pepper growers are still not really satisfied. In recent years, pepper acreage and output have continuously decreased due to price fluctuations, causing many farmers to worry.

In 2024, the prolonged dry season with erratic weather affected pepper crop yields. Some areas recorded a 20-40% decrease in yields compared to the previous year. In addition, the phenomenon of pepper plants flowering and fruiting twice but the second crop having a high percentage of empty seeds also significantly affected yields.

Many farmers have shifted part of their cultivation area to other crops. However, in the context of reduced supply, global demand is still increasing, helping Vietnamese pepper prices remain high.
