On March 21, at the one-stop shop at 27 Truong Chinh (Buon Ma Thuot City), people were seen jostling to complete land registration documents. Many people started lining up at 5am but still could not get a number to complete the paperwork in the morning.

Due to the large number of people coming to do procedures, the People's Committee of Buon Ma Thuot City had to direct relevant units to increase staff to promptly resolve the issues for the people.

Mr. Nguyen Van Minh (residing in Tan An ward, Buon Ma Thuot city) said he came at 6:30 today to get a number to do the mortgage cancellation procedure, but due to the large number of people, it had to be moved to the afternoon.

"Yesterday I arrived at 7am but there were already hundreds of people sitting in both rows of houses inside, they even spilled out into the yard. I waited for more than 2 hours but found it very difficult to get my turn so I had to go back," said Mr. Minh.

Mr. Tran Hung (residing in Khanh Xuan ward, Buon Ma Thuot city) said that because his house is more than 10km away from the one-stop office, he had to leave at 6am, but still could not get a number to complete the procedures.

According to Mr. Hung, when he arrived, hundreds of people were crowded outside the gate, motorbikes were parked all over the headquarters yard, and cars were parked in long rows on Truong Chinh Street.

An employee of the one-stop shop in Buon Ma Thuot City said that from 7:30 to 8:30 on March 21, more than 200 people came to get numbers to complete procedures. The large number of people coming to complete land procedures may be due to the information about merging communes and wards and abolishing the district level.

Speaking with VietNamNet reporter, Mr. Tran Duc Nhat, Vice Chairman of Buon Ma Thuot City People's Committee, said that, facing the situation of people gathering at the one-stop office to do administrative procedures related to land, the locality has directed the city's departments and offices, and the Land Registration Office Branch to increase staff to handle all documents within the day, in order to ensure the needs of the people.

"In addition, land procedures are basically resolved according to the provisions of the new Land Law, so people's needs have increased. Moreover, people are also worried that after merging commune-level administrative units and removing the district level, there will be a certain delay, so they go through the procedures before the merger," Mr. Nhat commented.

Director of Buon Ma Thuot City Land Registration Office Nguyen Van Manh said that in the past 2 days, the number of people coming to register for land procedures has increased, but not because of land "fever" but because of information about merging commune-level administrative units and abolishing the district level.

At the same time, the tax authority has just updated the system, so many people have not yet fulfilled their land tax obligations. They have gathered at the one-stop department to fulfill their land tax obligations, clear mortgages, and correct information on the red book...

"Transactions and transfers of land use rights are still normal, there is no land fever. Currently, procedures related to the land sector have increased but the unit is still handling them smoothly, not to the point of overload," said Mr. Manh.
