As a prestigious person in Zone 1, Tan Phu Commune, Tan Son District, Mr. Dinh Cong Don has made important contributions to preserving and promoting the traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities.
Mr. Dinh Cong Don, Muong ethnic group (sitting on the left) is a prestigious person in zone 1, Tan Phu commune, Tan Son district.
Mr. Dinh Cong Don, a Muong ethnic, always keeps in mind the teachings of President Ho Chi Minh: "Propaganda must be easy to understand, spoken in a practical manner, at the right time and place, and must pay special attention to the target audience." This has helped him become a role model, always taking the lead in local propaganda movements and activities.
In 2015, with the trust of the government and the people, he became a prestigious person in the community. Since then, Mr. Don's role in communicating development policies and projects has become increasingly important.
Exemplary and pioneering in all movements and activities, in 2023, in the work of mobilizing people to donate land and clear the ground for the construction of Noi Dong road, area 1, Tan Phu commune with a length of nearly 1km, Mr. Don mobilized 17 households to donate nearly 3,400m2 of land. The concrete road has been put into use, contributing to changing the appearance of the residential area.
Mr. Don has mobilized people to donate land for National Highway 32A, and has completed site clearance and is preparing to pour concrete in the near future.
In 2024, he continued to mobilize 20 households to donate land, clear the ground to build a 1km inter-village road on National Highway 32A, in Zone 1, Tan Phu Commune with a total land area of 1.6ha (including rice fields and garden land) to prepare for concrete pouring in the coming time. Every year, Mr. Don mobilizes people to contribute labor and money to build and repair concrete roads in the area, and to purchase additional equipment and cultural institutions for the area. His tireless efforts have contributed to improving the quality of life of the people, changing the appearance of the residential area, thereby creating consensus in the community.
Not only stopping at infrastructure development activities, Mr. Dinh Cong Don always focuses on propaganda work, mobilizing people to practice cultural lifestyle. Mr. Don said, one of the important tasks is to help people abandon backward customs and practices, especially the issue of early marriage and having a third child.
“We always persevere in propagating and mobilizing people to raise awareness, abandon backward customs and practices, and strictly implement the village convention. Previously, early marriage and having a third child were common issues, but thanks to the efforts of the whole community and the participation of local authorities, this situation has improved significantly,” said Mr. Don.
This is a great achievement in building a new cultural life, pushing back backward customs, including the issue of child marriage, helping to protect the rights of children, especially women. In addition, bad customs in weddings, funerals, festivals... are also gradually eliminated, replaced by simpler, more economical and solemn rituals.
Currently, Zone 1, Tan Phu Commune has 148 households with 597 people. Of which, Muong ethnic people account for 70%. From a difficult area, Zone 1 has now changed a lot. The movement to build cultural families and cultural residential areas has always received active response from households in the area; the rate of cultural families every year always reaches over 90%.
Mr. Don's hill chicken farming model has been learned and applied by many households in the area, contributing to increasing income and improving people's lives.
In addition to cultural activities, Mr. Dinh Cong Don also focuses on developing the household economy. One of the economic models that Mr. Don implements is raising hill chickens. By raising chickens, he not only takes the initiative in providing food for his family but also sells them to the market to earn extra income. This model has been learned and applied by many households in the area, contributing to increasing income and improving the lives of the people.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hung - Chairman of Tan Phu Commune People's Committee said: "Mr. Dinh Cong Don has promoted his role as a prestigious person, arousing consensus in the work of mobilizing families, relatives, and neighbors to believe in the Party's policies and guidelines, and the State's policies and laws. Mr. Dinh Cong Don's contributions have contributed to changing the face of Zone 1 and Tan Phu Commune in general."
Mr. Dinh Cong Don's efforts over the past 10 years not only reflect the changes of a residential area, but also demonstrate the strength of solidarity, consensus, and efforts to build a strong community from prestigious people among ethnic minorities, contributing to the effective implementation of Sub-project 1 of Project 10, National Target Program on Socio-Economic Development in Ethnic Minorities and Mountainous Areas for the 2021-2030 period (National Target Program 1719).
