TPO - In recent days, Da Nang beaches have become busier than ever as fishermen enter the season of pulling nets, a traditional fishing activity of coastal fishing villages. This is not only a livelihood for fishermen but also becomes an attractive experience for those who witness it.
Fishing nets are a unique cultural feature of coastal fishermen. This activity takes place on days with favorable weather, when the sea is calm and there are no big waves. Fishermen gather in groups of about 10-15 people, using large nets thousands of meters long to catch fish. |
From early morning, when the sun just rose, many tourists gathered at Man Thai beach (Son Tra district) to witness the scene of pulling the net. This is the coastal fishing method of fishermen in Da Nang fishing village. |
According to fishermen, the trawl net is so large that it takes more than 10 people to pull it to shore. Trawling requires coordination, from choosing the location to pull the net, to watching the tide to pull the net. |
"Pulling the net is a very laborious job, because we have to use all our strength to collect the net from a distance of nearly 1 km offshore. Although it is hard work, thanks to it, fishermen have income, and families always have fresh fish to eat after each trip at sea. Most of the fish caught in the net are anchovies, hairtail, scad and even squid. When the net is pulled ashore, the fish are still fresh, attracting many people to come and see and buy right there," said Mr. Hoang (residing in Tho Quang ward). |

Many foreign tourists could not hide their excitement when experiencing for the first time the work of pulling nets of fishermen in the sea of Da Nang. They took photos together to preserve memories of their visit to Vietnam. |
Fishermen from Man Thai said that they pull their nets close to shore about 2-3 times a day in the morning and afternoon. Each time, many tourists come to see and buy fish right there. Many foreign tourists also join the fishermen in pulling their nets to experience this job. |
