Delay in distributing exam questions to candidates for capacity assessment, Ho Chi Minh City National University speaks up to take responsibility

On the morning of April 2, the Examination Council of the Ho Chi Minh City National University's Competency Assessment Exam informed about the incident in which 4 candidates taking the first round of the Competency Assessment Exam were deprived of exam time at the An Giang University exam site on March 30.

Accordingly, the Examination Council held an extraordinary meeting to resolve the candidates' complaints. According to the report from the examination cluster, candidates reported that the invigilators were slow in distributing the exam papers, affecting the time spent on the exam.

After reviewing the incident, the cause was determined to be negligence in the process of distributing the exam papers, resulting in two candidates sitting close to each other receiving the same exam code. Upon discovering the incident, the exam invigilator collected some exam papers for inspection, before continuing to distribute the papers to the remaining candidates.

"This led to a delay in the distribution of exam papers, causing candidates to lose some of their time, negatively affecting their test results. This was an error arising from the carelessness of the individuals involved in performing their duties," the Examination Council admitted.

To resolve the incident, the Examination Council assigned the examination cluster leaders to contact the affected candidates, directly apologize and commit to creating favorable conditions for candidates to participate in the second round of exams. In addition, the examination cluster leaders reviewed and improved the organization of the exam to prevent similar incidents in future exams.

The first round of the Ho Chi Minh City National University's competency assessment exam took place on the morning of March 30, held simultaneously at 118 locations in 25 localities and attracted more than 126,000 candidates. The An Giang University exam site alone had more than 3,700 candidates.

The results of the first round will be announced on April 16 and will be used by more than 100 universities and colleges for admission. The second round of the exam will take place on June 1.
