The 9th Italian Design Day in Vietnam was initiated by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in 2017. This is an annual initiative to promote the historical and contemporary values of Italian design and architecture worldwide, while promoting the exchange of experiences and innovative practices.
Since its first edition in 2017, more than 1,000 events have been organized within the framework of this initiative through the network of Italian embassies, consulates and trade offices abroad, with the participation of more than 500 designers, architects, entrepreneurs, journalists and industry experts.
The theme of Italian Design Day 2025 is “Inequality – Design for a Better Life”. This theme highlights the role of design as a tool to improve the quality of life for people and respond to the disparities in contemporary society.
In addition, Italian Design Day 2025 is also a platform to celebrate the "Salone del Mobile di Milano" (Milan Furniture Fair from April 8-13) and the "Triennale di Milano" (Milan Furniture Fair from May 13 to November 9). Founded in 1961, the "Salone" is the world's leading trade fair for the design and interior industry. Meanwhile, the Triennale exhibition was first held in 1923 and is recognized by the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), one of the largest art exhibitions on design in Italy, taking place every three years in Milan.
In Hanoi, the 9th Italian Design Day will include the premiere of a documentary film about the Triennale di Milano Exhibition. The event will take place at 9:30 a.m. on March 26 at the Hanoi University of Civil Engineering (HUCE). The Triennale di Milano exhibition is organized in collaboration with the Hanoi University of Civil Engineering (HUCE) and the Design Alliance Association of Asia.
