Korea - Vietnam Trade Connection Festival Mega Us Expo 2024

On the morning of August 22, the Department of Science and Technology of Ho Chi Minh City, the Center for Application of Science and Technology Advances in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon Innovation Hub) in collaboration with the Jeonbuk Center for Creative Economic Innovation (JBCCEI), the Korea - Vietnam Trade Promotion Center KORETOVIET and JYGLOBAL Co., Ltd. organized the Trade Promotion Festival "The Door to Connecting the Korean - Vietnamese Market" (Mega Us Expo 2024).

Mega Us Expo 2024 is held from August 22 to 24 at White Palace Convention Center (Phu Nhuan District, Ho Chi Minh City) with more than 200 booths in many fields from 30 centers, organizations supporting innovative startups, universities, and startups from Korea and Vietnam.

Many products from Korea are displayed and introduced at the exhibition area.

The event serves as a bridge for business cooperation between enterprises of the two countries, calling for capital from foreign investors. The program also has many activities to promote the entrepreneurial spirit and creativity of young people such as: Student Startup Idea Competition (Univ.Star), Venture.Star Investment Calling Program...

Representatives of the Department of Science and Technology of Ho Chi Minh City signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with businesses from Korea.

The Department of Science and Technology of Ho Chi Minh City also signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with representatives of Korean enterprises to enhance cooperation activities to promote innovative startups of the two countries; promote the entrepreneurial spirit of Vietnamese students; enhance support activities for enterprises in Ho Chi Minh City in particular and Vietnam in general; apply technology from Korea to serve production, etc.

Vice Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Tran Thi Dieu Thuy said that the specific policies under Resolution No. 98 approved by the National Assembly for Ho Chi Minh City are expected to create a breakthrough, promoting socio-economic development in the coming time. In particular, developing innovation and creative startups towards creating a favorable legal environment is one of the areas that the city focuses on.

To realize this goal, international cooperation becomes an important factor to promote the development of the innovative startup ecosystem. By connecting startups with global resources, markets and partners, it will help Vietnamese startups improve their competitiveness and soon reach the international market.

“Mega Us Expose 2024 is expected to be an event connecting the creative startup ecosystem of Ho Chi Minh City with startups and SMEs of Korea. This is also an opportunity for Vietnamese startups to approach and call for venture capital from investment funds, angel investors from Korea and some neighboring countries in the Venture.star 2024 program. In addition, through activities and playgrounds for students, students from both countries will have the opportunity to exchange and study, build ideas and solutions to solve specific problems in practice”, affirmed Vice Chairwoman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Tran Thi Dieu Thuy.

Ho Chi Minh City currently owns the most dynamic ecosystem in Vietnam, with more than 50% of startups, 40% of startup incubators and support facilities, and 60% of active venture capital funds. In addition, the city also accounts for 44% of venture capital investment and more than 60% of successful deals nationwide. According to Startup Blink, the world's most dynamic innovative startup ecosystem index in 2024, Ho Chi Minh City ranked 111/1,000 cities, up 3 places compared to 2023. Or according to Startup Genome's 2024 Global Startup Ecosystem Report, Ho Chi Minh City continues to be in the group of 81-90 cities in the world with emerging global innovative startup ecosystems.
