Automatic ticket machines are installed at many tourist attractions to help passengers take the initiative in buying tickets and choosing seats.

Vietnam Railways Corporation (VNR) will deploy international payment gateways and automatic ticket vending machines at tourist destinations from August 20.

Accordingly, VNR connects and sells train tickets via Google Pay, Samsung Pay, and Apple Pay e-wallets so that customers, especially international customers, can easily buy tickets online and pay by bank card.

Previously, international visitors often bought train tickets through travel agencies, travel websites, and could not buy tickets directly on Vietnam Railways' ticket sales websites because they could not pay directly with cards issued by foreign banks.

On August 1, VNR officially opened a payment gateway for international cards issued by foreign banks through the VNPAY payment gateway. International customers can easily book tickets directly and pay abroad, without going through an agent.

Along with opening a direct payment gateway, the railway has recently installed automatic train ticket vending machines at domestic tourist destinations such as: Nha Trang City Post Office (Khanh Hoa), Ho Chi Minh City Post Office, Da Lat Station (Lam Dong), Quang Nam Province Tourist Support Center Office, Hoi An City.

The automatic train ticket vending machine has a large screen, a friendly interface, and languages used are Vietnamese and English. People and tourists can easily perform operations such as: selecting ticket information, payment method, and making payment transactions according to instructions.

“This device helps save waiting time when queuing to look up information, buying train tickets during peak times, and reduces risks when using cash. In addition, it also helps passengers proactively choose seat types and locations on the train, buy multiple trips and routes, and use additional incentives to save costs,” said a VNR leader.
