Along with focusing on developing industry, handicrafts, tourism, and services, in recent years, Viet Tri city has also focused resources on effectively implementing the “One Commune One Product” (OCOP) Program on the basis of exploiting local potential and advantages to create agricultural products. Thereby, helping entities improve the competitiveness of products in the market, contributing to economic development, increasing income, improving material and spiritual life...

Enhance the value of OCOP products

To develop and enhance the value of OCOP products, the City People's Committee has strengthened propaganda and mobilized people and businesses to boldly invest in facilities and expand scale while ensuring criteria on quality and food safety and hygiene.

In particular, for OCOP products that have been evaluated and classified, Viet Tri city continues to consolidate, maintain, develop and improve the quality and value of OCOP products, standardize at higher star levels; focus on criteria on quality, design, packaging, product style, trade promotion, advertising and product introduction; innovate production organization, promote production linkage towards stable goods associated with the market according to the value chain; periodically evaluate, rank and re-recognize according to regulations.

For new products, the city focuses on supporting product development consulting, building product profiles, supporting product standardization, building and registering trademarks, certifying advanced quality management ISO, VietGAP, HACCP... Thanks to that, in 2023, the city will have 6 more products recognized as meeting 3-star OCOP standards, an increase of 200% compared to the plan.

Up to now, the whole city has 16 OCOP products with 3 stars or higher with 13 subjects and 10/22 communes and wards with OCOP products. In which, the Provincial Council submitted to the Central Council for evaluation and classification of 1 OCOP product with the potential to reach 5 stars, which is: Clean rice noodles born from Hung Lo village of Hung Lo rice noodles cooperative, Hung Lo commune.

Enhance the value of OCOP products

Comrade Nguyen Xuan Tam - Head of Economic Department, Viet Tri city said: OCOP products have met quality standards with diverse designs and packaging suitable for market needs; contributing to increasing value, increasing production scale and revenue. Subjects interested in investing in increasing production scale towards goods, diversifying products and improving economic efficiency such as: Hung Lo rice noodles, Nam Duong Cordyceps mushrooms, Ninh Hang banh chung... the output value of goods from OCOP products in 2023 increased by 10-15% over the same period. Some subjects have high revenue increases such as: Ninh Hang banh chung, output increased by about 30%; Hung Lo rice noodles cooperative, revenue increased by 30-35%, contributing to creating stable jobs for many workers, with income from 6-8 million VND/person/month.

Implementing the OCOP Program is an effective solution to increase the value of agricultural products, preserve and promote the values ​​of traditional products, linking agricultural development with services, tourism... Therefore, in 2024, Viet Tri city sets a goal of developing and standardizing 3 products with 3-star or higher rating; upgrading 1 product from 3-star to 4-star rating. By the end of 2024, the city is expected to have 19 products meeting OCOP standards of 3 stars or higher.

To achieve this goal, the city continues to encourage communes and wards to select and develop potential, typical products, traditional products of enterprises, cooperatives, craft villages, households, production and business establishments... focusing on developing and standardizing products participating in the OCOP Program.

Implement activities to connect product consumption, introduce OCOP products at shopping centers, points of sale of typical products; display, promote, introduce and sell OCOP products associated with tours, tourist routes, festival activities inside and outside the city. Coordinate with sectors to organize training and foster professional knowledge for state management officials at city, commune and ward levels; enterprises, cooperatives, farms, craft villages, household owners, production and business establishments participating in the OCOP Program.
