Since the 1960s, Duong Hoa Cuong Tea Farm has been established here with its scale and output constantly expanding.

However, the value of Hai Ha tea is still low compared to many tea regions in the country. After a long period of traditional cultivation, the tea fields quickly deteriorated, and the hygiene and safety of raw tea materials were not guaranteed.

In the period of 2022 - 2025, the district will implement a project to restructure the tea industry, applying mechanisms and policies according to Resolution 194/2019/NQ-HDND dated July 30, 2019 of the People's Council of Quang Ninh province to support tea growers in: investing in intensive cultivation according to VietGAP; supporting upgrading and renovating factories and processing lines; assessing and granting HACCP certification to processing facilities; transferring intensive cultivation and processing processes of high-quality tea, supporting the development of new Huong Bac Son tea varieties... which have gradually changed the productivity and appearance of the district's tea areas, thereby increasing the value of tea trees in the area.

The tea production facility of Mr. Le Van Thang, village 6, Quang Long commune, is one of the high-quality safe tea production facilities in the commune. To create value for tea plants, Mr. Thang has worked hard to learn, boldly invested in expanding the production line, and with support from the locality, Mr. Thang has standardized the processes of steaming, kneading, roasting, etc. to produce the highest quality output products. Fresh young tea buds are picked with the standard of "1 bud, 2 leaves", and are only picked early in the morning, when still covered with dew. After picking, the tea is purchased at factories and processed on the same day, creating high-quality tea products with economic value.

Sharing about his production process, Mr. Le Van Thang said: Our facility purchases and participates in the production of high-quality organic tea, mainly Ngoc Thuy and Bac Son tea varieties. This tea variety has a cool, aromatic flavor, is delicious and rich in water, and has a higher economic value than old tea varieties. Our care process mainly uses organic fertilizers and microorganisms to enhance the quality of the product.

The whole district currently has 800 hectares of tea; more than 2,000 households are engaged in tea production; the average annual fresh tea output reaches 6,300 tons, this output is mainly from households and a number of production facilities supplied to 7 main processing facilities, including 3 large-capacity processing facilities and consumption markets to China and Middle Eastern countries. The district has piloted an area of 35 hectares for people to learn and replicate; implemented support for seeds, fertilizers, processing workshops, labels, packaging, etc., thereby increasing the value of the tea area. Currently, inorganic tea products in the area range from 100-200 thousand VND/kg, but organic products range from 300-500 thousand VND/kg, and will be sold out as soon as they are produced.
