Growing up with numbers
Born into a family with a tradition of Mathematics , Hoang Nhan soon showed his passion for numbers. When he was young, Nhan often followed his grandfather and mother to school. Sitting neatly in the corner of the classroom, although he did not fully understand the numbers and strange drawings on the board, Nhan still felt extremely excited.
The image of his mother standing on the podium, lecturing confidently and convincingly made Nhan feel "cool" and admired. The passion for entering the Pedagogical gate of the male student was also originated and nurtured from there.

Realizing this, his grandfather often let Nhan read books related to Math, including tricky puzzles about calculations. In addition, whenever they had free time, the two of them would "learn Math" together through chess games. These habits helped the young man from Da Nang practice logical thinking and calculation skills from a young age.
“My grandfather and mother are great teachers who have guided and inspired me on my path of study. In particular, my mother, with her achievement of being the valedictorian of the University of Education - Hue University, has always been my idol for me to strive and follow,” Hoang Nhan shared.
Research on "puzzle technique" in teaching and learning Mathematics
Participating in scientific research at the beginning of year 2, up to now, the male student has been the owner of 6 scientific articles in domestic scientific journals, in which he is both the main author and corresponding author in 5 articles.
One of the projects that Nhan is most passionate about is the research "Developing mathematical communication skills for students through using puzzle techniques in teaching grade 10 math".
In which, the puzzle technique is a method of organizing teaching and learning activities - cooperative learning between individuals, groups and links between groups, aiming to solve a complex task, stimulate the active participation of students, and enhance the role of individuals in the cooperation process.

Sharing the reason for the research, the male student said that he wanted to help students develop their specific abilities in Mathematics, while also enriching the methods and techniques of organizing active teaching for students. Thereby, helping students develop comprehensively in both qualities and abilities, in accordance with the spirit of the 2018 General Education Program.
In addition, “Method of solving high-order linear differential equations using neural networks” is also a topic that Nhan has devoted much effort to researching. The male student said that high-order linear differential methods, although important in many fields, are complicated and cannot be solved accurately using analytical methods.
For that reason, the male student was determined to find a more optimal solution for this equation using technology, specifically using artificial neural networks. To come up with two numerical methods to help find the solution to this type of equation, there were times when Nhan had to struggle, fumble around to write and fix each line of faulty code.
“This was the time I struggled the most, when I had to apply technology to solve math problems for the first time,” the male student said.
Wanting to have more time for research, Nhan always sets a “rule” for himself that he must concentrate to thoroughly understand the lectures in class, then spend breaks reading books and doing in-depth research. The rest of the time, including summer vacations, he spends on research.
Remove the "bookworm" label, turn to the community
Although students of the Mathematics Department are often labeled as “dry” and “bookworms”, Hoang Nhan proves the complete opposite. Not only does he have impressive academic achievements, Nhan also actively participates in volunteer and extracurricular activities inside and outside of school.
During the Green Summer 2024 volunteer campaign in Dien Phong (Dien Ban, Quang Nam), Nhan participated in many meaningful activities, such as repairing houses for Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, giving gifts to policy families and contributing to building local infrastructure.

“Witnessing the enthusiastic support and warm smiles of the local people made me realize that I have to contribute more to the community. This volunteer trip also helped me become more aware of my responsibilities and obligations to my beloved Fatherland,” Hoang Nhan shared.
In addition, Nhan also actively participates in beach cleaning activities organized by his class and the Youth Union; volunteers to welcome new students; participates in donating and supporting in-kind for other volunteer campaigns... The male student also participates in many competitions to test and develop himself, actively participates in international student exchange conferences and English competitions.
“For me, the title of “5 Good Students” is extremely meaningful, marking my efforts and struggles in the past time. But for me, this is not the final destination but the beginning of my future contributions. With that stepping stone, I want to create more good values for the community and society in the future,” Hoang Nhan expressed.
