Musician and doctor Vu Minh Duc said the song was inspired by the story of Nguyen Dinh Tuan Dung, a son who has been away from home for more than 20 years, carrying with him the longing for his family through the days of struggling from Hai Phong, Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City. Tuan Dung is a widely loved singer with the nickname "Boss father with 2 children" who owns the mashup version Con yeu em mai - Roi mai toi dua em. He graduated from the Military University of Culture and Arts, was in the top 20 of Vietnam Idol 2008, and in recent years has been loved for participating in music game shows on television.
According to the author of "Dreaming of Hometown" , after nearly a year of knowing each other, while chatting with Nguyen Dinh Tuan Dung, the male singer told him about his longing for his family and his desire to bring his whole family to Ho Chi Minh City to build a future, which moved him and made him write this song.
Musician Vu Minh Duc further emphasized the meaning of the work when choosing the occasion of International Day of Happiness to release it: "I want to send the message that happiness is sometimes just a peaceful dream, a dream of seeing the smile of parents - something that when we are busy, we easily forget."
The MV of Dreaming of Homeland was directed by Tung Phan, through conversations with Nguyen Dinh Tuan Dung and musician - doctor Vu Minh Duc. Accordingly, the MV was built as a miniature picture of the life of an artist in Saigon - always carrying in his heart the nostalgia for his homeland...
