Many new training majors will be opened and recruited by universities in 2025.

Mr. Le Van Hien, Deputy Head of Training Department, Ho Chi Minh City University of Law, said that the school will open the Banking and Finance and International Business majors following the development trend, aiming at multi-disciplinary and multi-field training. The school also increased its enrollment quota by 800 compared to last year, to more than 4,000 this year.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Science has opened a new major in Educational Technology with about 70 students. In addition, the university is building other interdisciplinary majors such as integrated science or land economics.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Phung, Head of Information and Communication Department, University of Finance and Marketing, the school opened 3 new majors: Auditing, Data Science and Economic Management.

“Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade plans to open two new majors: Law and Tourism. In the first semester, each major will enroll 50 students,” said Mr. Pham Thai Son, the school’s admissions director.

This year, Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy will open a Social Work major, enrolling 60 students in the first course. This will be the first public medical school in the South to open this major.

According to the school, the social work major is in line with the school's development strategy to become a multidisciplinary university in the health sector. On the other hand, this major is also in line with the human resource development needs of the locality, region and country. The social work major is also of interest to the Government, ministries, sectors, especially in the health sector, in order to support and provide comprehensive psychological and social care for patients. On the other hand, before opening the social work major, Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy surveyed the human resource needs of 12 hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City and 100% of them agreed that the activities of social work graduates in hospitals are necessary.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education opens a series of new majors. Mr. Tran Thanh Thuong - Head of Admissions and Student Affairs, said that it is expected to open new majors: Nutrition and food science; Natural resources and environmental management (specializing in environment and sustainable development); Financial technology; Business administration; Technical physics (oriented towards semiconductor technology and sensors, measurement); Communication technology (digital communication and multimedia technology).

In addition, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education first trains at Binh Phuoc Branch the following majors: Electrical and electronic engineering technology; Control and automation engineering technology; Mechanical engineering technology; Construction management; Automotive engineering technology; Information technology; Industrial management; Accounting; E-commerce; Logistics and supply chain management; International business; English language.

According to Associate Professor Bui Hoai Thang, Head of Training Department, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, the school has opened a new major in Business Administration and Natural Resource Economics (specializing in Circular Economics). In addition, the school will provide training in English for the majors/specializations of Digital Business (a major of Business Administration), Microcircuit Design, Renewable Energy (of Electrical Engineering), Digital Biotechnology (of Biotechnology), and Circular Economics (of Natural Resource Economics). It is expected that each major will enroll 40 students for the first course.

Dr. Nguyen Tran Tan Minh Khang, Vice Principal of the University of Information Technology, also said that this year the school will open a new major in Multimedia Communications. This major will recruit students through three methods: direct recruitment and priority recruitment; recruitment based on the scores of the competency assessment exam organized by Ho Chi Minh City National University; and recruitment based on the results of the high school graduation exam.

According to Mr. Cu Xuan Tien, Head of Admissions and Student Affairs, the University of Economics and Law plans to open a major in Supply Chain Management and International Logistics under the International Business major.

Associate Professor Dr. Vu Hai Quan, Director of Ho Chi Minh City National University, said that in 2025, the university will continue to open a number of new interdisciplinary and inter-school training programs to provide high-quality human resources to serve the country's development needs. These are new energy majors (renewable energy, nuclear power); logistics majors and human resource training that can participate in operating the metro system, Long Thanh International Airport, high-speed railway, etc.

At the same time, the university will continue to develop programs to attract excellent students, train talents in basic sciences, promote scientific research; synchronously deploy learning management systems and learning content, open mass online courses, and distance learning programs in a mixed form.
