Accordingly, next year, Ho Chi Minh City National University will continue to innovate in administration, training and scientific research in line with the development needs of the country, region and the world.
Specifically, in terms of training in 2024, Ho Chi Minh City National University will open a number of new, interdisciplinary, and inter-school training programs to serve the country's development needs such as semiconductor technology - microchip design, new energy technology, green growth models; increase the number of postgraduate students and the number of international publications of postgraduate students.
The school also continues to innovate its curriculum and teaching methods, synchronously deploying the LMS system and the MOOCs online lecture system. Notably, the school will pilot a number of general subjects and recognize credits for high school students with outstanding talents, in a combined online and in-person method.
Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Hai Quan, Director of Ho Chi Minh City National University, shared that Ho Chi Minh City National University is developing specific standards and conditions to implement this program. The program targets outstandingly talented students in all high schools, not just specialized or gifted schools.
It is expected that students will study through the MOOCs online lecture system and take direct exams to receive credit recognition. The implementation of this program will open up opportunities for talented students to access higher education earlier. More importantly, by studying some general subjects, students can orient their careers earlier. In fact, many major universities in the world have implemented this model.
In 2024, Ho Chi Minh City National University will also implement the Project to Attract, Retain and Develop Outstanding Young Scientists and Leading Scientists to Work at the University. Accordingly, the university aims to attract 350 outstanding young scientists and leading scientists to work under this project by 2030.
The attraction policy of the National University focuses on many aspects, from career development policy, working environment to income and treatment policy for scientists. Notably, scientists are guaranteed a career development roadmap in the first 5 years of work through financial support for implementing scientific research topics as well as support for enhancing research capacity. The maximum financial support for implementing a topic is 200 million VND or a maximum of 1 billion VND, depending on the subject and time of work of the scientist.
In 2024, the school also plans to proactively order a number of interdisciplinary research topics and projects in line with the development strategy; continue to increase the number of international publications in the Scopus catalog; develop an additional training cooperation program with a top university in the world in priority development areas (AI, biotechnology, semiconductor technology - microchip design, etc.); research and propose mechanisms to encourage experts and scientists to participate in cooperation activities with localities and businesses.
Over the past time, Ho Chi Minh City National University has maintained its position on the regional and world academic map.
