Chi Lang District (Lang Son Province) has promoted the development of key crops, forming large commodity production chains. Typical examples are the chains of custard apple, star anise, chili peppers... Common crops and specialty crops grown according to VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards...


In Chi Lang district, there are 2,600 hectares of custard apple, 1,900 hectares of star anise, 800 hectares of tobacco, 600 hectares of citrus fruit, 700 hectares of chili, 600 hectares of peanuts, 2,500 horses... with thousands of households participating.

Mr. Phung Van Nghia - Chairman of Chi Lang District People's Committee said: As a locality with strengths in agricultural production, in order to develop sustainable and modern agriculture, in recent years, Chi Lang has focused on building concentrated production areas with key products, creating many large-scale commodity production material areas to develop linkage chains.

Mr. Nguyen Tri Tuan - Director of Dong Mo Agricultural Production and Service Cooperative, Dong Mo town said: In order for custard apple trees to develop sustainably, since 2017, we have joined together to establish the Cooperative. Since then, the process of planting, developing, and consuming custard apple products has been taken care of by the Cooperative for all members.

Currently, Dong Mo Agricultural Production and Service Cooperative has grown custard apples according to VietGAP standards. In 2020, the custard apple product achieved 4-star OCOP... Thanks to its clear quality and origin, the cooperative's custard apple products have been consumed in markets such as Bac Ninh, Bac Giang, Hanoi... Since then, the average income of cooperative members has reached 80 to 200 million VND/member/year.

Linking in production helps chili plants grow stably

Like custard apple, chili is also a strong crop of Chi Lang district, but the output depends on the Chinese market, so for chili to develop stably, the People's Committee of Chi Lang district has coordinated with the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Lang Son province (formerly the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Lang Son province) to organize the construction, establish records and implement steps for the Plant Protection Department to issue codes for chili growing areas for export.

Since then, many businesses inside and outside Lang Son province have proactively come to Chi Lang district to cooperate with people to grow and consume chili. Up to now, chili plants have increasingly brought a stable life to the people.

To support the formation of development chains in the area, Chi Lang district has built 2,194 hectares of good agricultural production areas according to VietGAP, GlobalGAP, Organic standards... (Custard apple according to GlobalGAP standards is 35 hectares, custard apple according to VietGAP standards is 70 hectares, organic star anise 700 hectares, lychee according to VietGAP standards is 35 hectares, chili is 211 hectares, VietGAP rice is 327 hectares, VietGAP watercress is 6.7 hectares.

Chi Lang agricultural products have grown since joining the production chain.

Every year, Chi Lang district also organizes many trade promotion programs, searches for markets and calls on businesses to join production links with people, thereby forming many large raw material areas towards export markets.

Up to now, in Chi Lang district, 10 stable production and consumption chains have been formed: Chi Lang custard apple, star anise, tobacco, potato, peanut, rice, chili, peach, horse, rabbit. Since then, the district's agricultural sector has developed strongly, many crops bring high economic value such as: custard apple growing area over 800 billion VND; chili growing area over 250 billion VND, tobacco over 150 billion VND...
